I thought Tomlinson was good, which is significant.  He might be needed next week, even with the likely inclusion of Petty.  If I’m not mistaken, Rick Lever winced when he tried to put his arm around a teammates shoulder during the song.  It was only  a fleeting moment.  I think I’m correct, but obviously hope I’m wrong.

Well I am actually relieved with the win. It is no great surprise we got beaten in the midfield as having Oliver out is like having a giant puncture mark to the chest. Also thaught there were some positives. Kozzie was a bonus and hopefully he can put some more performances like that in for the rest of the year. Tomlinson was surprisingly good today as well. BBB played his best game for the year and hopefully take some confidence out of today. The high kickers in to the forward line should also learn to pass it onto his chest.

He’s gotta be sore after hurting his shoulder like that, but hopefully not injured.

Think you mean Barings.

Auto spell check. Sux. Barings deleted from all dictionaries as well it seems.

Very few people in history can step into Oliver’s role

Geez - I never said to have an Oliver impact. Someone who can break even and not get walked over. didn’t think I needed to spell that out. But as Goodwin says , learnings.

Back pocket Brayshaw is the only one

Our second tier mids in Harmes/Sparrow aren't good enough to get close

Brown starting to hit a few straps.Early days but some signs

Got almost 10 marks, which is saying something. Hopefully can expose the Doggies backline next week.

When's the loading end party?

30th July, day after the Freo game 🤞🤞

We were very bursty today. Periods where it looked like we were running in treacle with concrete boots on, then we activated for 5 minutes and put a few goals on the board with high pressure and gut running forward chains. Call it momentum or whatever, but it was a strange one.

So happy for Kozzy too. Put on an absolute show.

Play Petty in Tomald's spot, and Petty down back.

That would really test his aerobic capacity.

And speaking of being petty... 😄

Tommo in Tomald's spot and Petty down back is what I meant.

I'll bring the vino, cheese and Jatz Crackers!

Everything looked so hard, skills were way off. This performance from Kozzie is what it's all about though!

BT always barracks against the Demons. Worst commentator ever.

He's actually  even worse than that

Gawn not himself at all and is clearly is being hampered. Anyone know anything about the injury he has and if he’s going to just labour thru the rest of the year now or get better?

Geelong aren't as good as us.

Really?. Geelong look far better than us at the moment.

I was starting to give up hope! We're only equal top! I remember so many years of just a squigin of hope of making the four if we won the last five games!

It's odd, Trac and Viney had good games but our midfield was run over to easily.

Rivers and Tomlinson exceptional down back today. Salem solid although i've never seen him kick the ball into the man on the mark before.

Brown showed up for 1 quarter,  we didn't do anything differently to make him play better he just randomly started clunking marks.

Really think we need to run another tall forward, Bedford was nowhere near the ball today. If McDonald is injured surely JVR has a tank to do the running that Brown just can't do.

They are playing at their optimum. we are not. If we can hit peak form in September we will beat them. I've no doubt about that

Kozzie was electric, a joy to watch.

Backline very solid. May & Salem can both improve.

Trac, Viney & Lingers all good.

BBB showing positive signs.

Spargo did some good things that led to goals.

Maxy not great but serviceable and will get better!

The two players Demonlanders didn’t want in Bedford almost unsighted and Melksham did a few good things and slowed Alir first half, but he does look slow & fumbly.

All in all take a win against Port team that had a crack, a bit frustrating that they kicked last three goals.

Still happy to win.

Equal top and with the stingiest defence in the competition while not having been at our best.

People with better knowledge than me say that defence wins premierships.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
