I must admit I'm pretty disappointed that to hear that he's gone and met with a club right on the eve of finals and with a club that we're potentially contending against.

I am all for players meeting up with clubs etc because that's the nature of the game and we've done it in the past ourselves.

But it's about picking the appropriate time and space. Doing this while his current club is still contending and he's trying to break back into the team should br his absolute prime focus.

All he had to do was respectfully wait after the finals series and advise Port that he would be fully focussing on thr job at hand and park any trade talk aside.

You can tell Goody is sick of all the Grundy talk that comes up in his pressers. So what does this do now? Create more unnecessary noise.

Hope we don't pick him for the rest of the year now.

There’s a week off and he isn’t in the team. It’s fine.

Did he actually meet with Port face to face?  It could have been via video.

Either way he would have had the club's blessing and all part of facilitating a trade..

It isn't something to criticise him for.

But he has every chance of being in the team..

All it does is create extra unnecessary noise because now the media will be banging on about it if he isn't selected.

Goody hates talking about it every single week and so he should because his primary focus should will be on the 22 that will be playing.

Thanks, hadn't seen that.

It still would have been with the club's blessing, in full view of the public, so I am ok with it.

Probably it was when those Port players were down here for the AFL Awards night.

I assume he's been told he's not playing (short of injury) so is free to look at his future.

He would never have been told he isn’t playing. What if Gawn gets injured at training or in game? He is 100% in line to play at any time during our finals campaign and this is what he should focus on.
Same for Port. Don’t you have a game to win? 🙄

They know they have no chance to beat the Lions at the Gabba 😁

Ralph really might help his articles by reading them, before he publishes them.

His suggestion of Port’s deal to get him is we pay more of his contract and they give a late pick.

I think I must misunderstand the situation.

Grundy is contracted to us and Port want him. So in his suggestion we beg them to take him, an AA ruckman going to one of our main opponents, by paying part of his contract and getting a late pick back, after we paid pick 27 to get him, only one year ago.

The inference is clear in his suggestion that Port hold all the chips.

How do these blokes get and keep jobs in the media ?

Is Ports future 1st a realistic trade option for us?

god no

it'll be a future second or something like that and we'll wish him well

it's a real shame it hasn't worked out as having two genuine top tier ruckmen struck me as an opportunity to do something different; it's proved impractical

That could be an option.

But remember that the Demons hold all the cards with Brodie Grundy being contracted for 4 years. We need to drive a hard bargain! Squeeze Port Power for as much as we can!

I would prefer a young talented player from Port Adelaide. I mentioned earlier that Josh Sinn, Miles Bergman and Ollie Lord are likely types we could target. Port Adelaide will need to give up talent to get talent. Especially as Brodie Grundy is in his prime and a 2 time All Australian Ruckmen.

Remember, Collingwood wanted to get rid of Brodie Grundy! Whereas, we are more than happy to keep him.

Anyway, I have plenty of faith in Tim Lamb and the MFC list management team. 🙏

Trade period runs 9-18 October, we could be playing on 30 September. When do you think it's a good date for him to start investigating his future?

Do you reckon we weren't talking to him until after Collingwood's GF last year?

The articles above suggest that Grundy is unhappy, and i don't blame him.

When your a proud fella, copping a lot of media flak and playing VFL it owuld be tough. But both May and Lever went through it as well and came out better for it in their second years at the club.

I hope he stays one more year and tries to make it work, but unfortunetly it sounds like he wants a move. Good luck to him, i hope we can get more than a 2nd round pick for him becuase at the end of the day if he is wanted and contracted, Port can gagf.

In saying that i do like that we are good club and don't muck about players. I think that says a lot about the club.

You guys are just gearing yourselves up to be disappointed. We may be willing to keep the player. That is vastly different to being happy to keep him - we are not getting a first round pick and we will end up with something similar to what we paid so that Brodie can go somewhere he will play.

These are people with careers - we aren’t going Dodoro the situation, and it certainly doesn’t mean he is not a ‘team player’ for meeting with other clubs in the bye week before a finals series he is highly unlikely to feature in.

This is not the future we sold him and we will do what good clubs do.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
