Wieid likely on the way out. Probably Dons 3rd or 4th. Throw that in with pick 27 for Grundy.

No need to, we will keep it as we need it.

I wouldn't be trading Weid out yet if the Grundy deal falls through. Of course, Collingwood has waited to see what we get from free and getting greedy.

No deal and see how they manage their salary cap and invite Grundy back into the fold after rejecting him. Hold the line, Tim.

Just spotted this years picks after todays trading:

13, 27, 54,72

27 will go to Pies, probably tomorrow.

We get 42 approx for Weid.

Bundle that with 54 and 72 and maybe get a pick in the 30’s and that with 13 will be our 2 picks this year.

This is bluster for their fans. Just as Lamb coming out and saying we wanted two first round picks for Jackson.

It's optics.

Is Lamb still looking like a hero to our fans because of what he said last week about the Jackson and Bedford deals? The bluster is pointless when the result goes the other club's way.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If we do the deal and he doesn't say anything up top 10 picks, some nuffy supporters complain that we just rolled over.

Further, it's also a good way of showing the supporting base what they'd like and bar. Even if you don't get it.

And yet most neutrals are saying we're easily ahead in this deal.

It's only the eternal wristslashing MFC supporters that think we got dudded.

We'll use 27 + whatever we get for Weid traded onto Collingwood for Grundy

It'll be no fuss in the end, you're all so dramatic!

Trouble for the beloved and idiotic Pies is the clowns have signed up people and promised others and should have done the Grundy deal first. Let them [censored] the bed I say.

Even if we dont have another ruckmen 🤣

For starters, what we got for Jackson and Bedford was spot on.

Lamb doesn't have to appease the nuffie supporters. That's the sort of stuff that Dodo does. All he has to say is that we're still working through things. He'll cop more backlash now from supporters.

I don’t think we have any option but to give Collingwood what ever they’re asking for (within reason) - if we’re in a hurry to get rid of Weid.

Imagine Gawn come next finals series if he’s shouldered 98% of the ruck for the entire home and away season with  literally no viable back up.

Grundy will surely be a Demon next year.

Lamb had showed that we will fold and get fleeced and now Collingwood want to cash in on our desperation. Seems like we played the nice guy and got played.

Or we could just wait. Looks like we have one deal we need to get done, and this is it. If it doesn’t get done I’d say Collingwood are over their TPP. That is a world of pain.

Just wait.

Timmy Lamb would be feeling less comfortable than he’d like right about now.

Most likely it gets done without too much fuss but the fact Collingwood are going to the media on this (after starting the discussions in good faith) suggests some risk that they might dig in and go harder on this than Lamb had expected.

Or they are posturing for the feral supporters! Diverting blame when they take the deal for P27.

I’m hoping so

relax guys that journalist just said a pick slide of 13 to 16 was floated early in the trade period.  this is not a new development

no way we are sending 13 to the Pies in any trade

Time to drop the Grundy deal. We need a development deal - not a sunset career across a limited timeframe. We need someone with a strong ability to merge into our game style and with our current players (those who are left or ascending from Casey). Rest assured, Goodwin will not be making onfield modifications or plans - so innovative and clever thinking is going to be an absolute requirement from those we may select. I can only imagine that our top 5 players will be having an exhaustive season in 2023, filling gaps, having more onfield roles demanded of them, having fewer targets to visualise upfield and attempting to keep the whole team with heads above water.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
