He didn't look inward because his eyes were already fixated on the goal. He was on a tough angle and his first option should have been to look inboard for another option as he was on a tough angle. It's a simply footy rule 101 to always look  inboard at what available options there is before going the difficult kick for goal if need.

As Jordan Lewis said, the fact he didn't even bother to look for other options is a concern.

It sums up his attitude towards the team and I'm hating it.

He didn't kick the goal. Everyone is not happy. Especially Langdon.

As he is a forward I don't have a problem with him backing himself to kick that goal. He was on his left. In more recent times we butcher chances trying to be unselfish too.

Appreciate the NAIDOC week tribute Nev but it's a messy jumper which introduced unnecessary colours into the mix. If clashes and clash strips pop up onto the media agenda again I don't want to hear about it.

I think as supporters we were genuinely waiting for that exact moment you pointed out to happen.

I nearly threw my cat through the TV when he chose to dribble kick instead.

It's frustrating because in country footy I've seen blokes on my team or opposition benched nearly for a whole quarter from selfish acts such as this.

Wish that happened tonight.

He’s a forward, focused on the goal. And our best fwd at that. Usually kicks them. our best kick, if inside 50, kick for goal, don’t pass

If we are honest, the jumper looks terrible. Mates of mine were saying it looks like pyjamas and they’re not wrong

I wouldnt be surpised if one of Frittas KPIs from the coaching staff is shots on goal.  Goodwin has mentioned a few times about Fritta in interviews he loves that he generates high shots on goal.  For the record, im not condoning it but sometimes players have a KPI really engrained in their head.

I'll get this out of the way. A lot of people like Thursday night football for some reason. I know it's harder for some to fill the time in their pitiful lives themselves so we need to create this new shiney object called Thurs night footy so all these drones are happy. We did start with a bang but the moment Bowser gave up that holding the ball we were in for a night of crappy, crappy decision making and execution. I couldn't give a rat's ar*e about this result tonight and the little boost it will give those nitwits down the highway. We were so crap tonight and still kept the twin towers to 1 goal. You think they will beat us with midfield and smalls goals again? Ha!

We had a lot of crap performers, let's not hide from that. May was garbage early, was literally a coach killer. His influence is nothing when he's not performing. Gawn was not good, I'm not a doctor but I wasn't thrilled about him coming back early. Salem was crap, one of his most wayward kicking games. Spargo was down, Bedford was non-existent, Bowey very average. It felt like half our side was Under12s players chasing the footy and when they hit a target once in a blue moon you felt so proud.

To the positives, Pickett worked his socks off. Honestly thought he'd nailed that shot but I don't think we would have won regardless. Viney and Clarry worked hard. Petracca took his chances, the backline held firm I thought Lever and Petty did their bit.

Brayshaw is some player now. As of right at this minute he's the one I want to retain. Thought Jordan was crap.

Thurs night football stinks, if you like it then more power to you. I'm gonna go sleep in a cave for 9 days or whatever it is till our next game.

Agree with every word. Well said.

A game at that junk ground is barely relevant. We just focus on getting the wins for top 4. That’s all that matters (and won’t be easy either). But do it and then let’s see.

Sitting in the MFC area in the HFF on the outer side, the missed tackles by us were extremely noticeable that resulted in Geelong scores. This has been a recurring theme in our losses this year and either demonstrate a lack of hunger or lack of fitness. This just didn’t happen nearly as much last year.

Geelong were just too good for us and wouldn’t let us breath all night, aside from a few 5 minute cameos of  “Melbourne” football. A few MFC supporter are gettIng ahead themselves  if they merely think we can rock up to the G against them in finals and get an easy win. 

Disappointing result, we’ve lost more games this time than last year and we’re making a top 2 finish hard on ourselves.

Really hoping that magnificent Brisbane effort will be the norm in the coming weeks rather than a once in 6 week event.

Couldn’t take a mark, couldn’t stick a tackle, couldn’t hit a target inside 50, caught holding the ball too often. Overall a pretty inept performance.

The good old Geelong at Geelong thing ( the first game they put in the draw each year) even better this year on a Thursday night. So easy for supporters to get there.

No seats anyway l suppose.

I’d like the stats for all the other Victorian clubs visits over past 20 years.

Even in 2020 when we avoided them in Geelong, we were actually originally scheduled down there for a late season Saturday twilight game until they had to rip up the original fixture.

We clearly have to play them down there every year to pick up the slack as they simply won’t fixture Hawthorn, Collingwood or Richmond down there.

Either spread the load or play 11 home games down there.

It's certainly not close to my favourite indigenous jumper, looking forward to the next design.

Nailed it bitter.  I saw the lions game live and the dees were awesome that day only 2 weeks ago.

We had 5 day break and they had a bye last week.

If you'd told me before the game that Hawkins, Cameron, Stengle and Dangerfield would kick two goals between them, I reckon I might have had a largish bet on Melbourne.

After losing a bet (where winner gets a gift) I found myself at the Geelong merchandise shop. Unbelievably they were sold out of Gryan Miers badges. Settled for getting a Narkle instead.

They out hustled us around the ball and we’re much cleaner and more desperate.

I can’t believe the amount of times players who make space or who are on their own in the forward line aren’t used and instead they go for impossible angle goals , grubbers or blindly bomb it to the loose man in defense.

Theyve got to be a lot calmer going forward and always give it to a player in a better position  than yourself.

Tough teams built on culture make tough decisions. He misses next week.

After Collingwood when I looked ahead at the fixture I felt after what was an obvious required win over Brisbane that we would need to at minimum take a scalp over one of Geelong or Freo. This loss is not the end of the world but we now need to get it done over in Perth in Rd 20 no questions asked.

For the remainder of the season, the time in which to get the body of work done goes up until Rd 22 for me. I'm not looking at Rd 23 against the Lions as a blockbuster, I would have preferred to even rest guys and possibly lose Rd 23 up there going into finals. You know when you have to scramble to get all your work done so you can take an annual leave day on the last Friday of the month? That’s what I wanted Rd 23 to be (Within reason, still aim to win but don’t show our hand). 

So Freo and Carlton are opportunites to put the gap in them up top and we need both of those scalps. Collingwood as well (which could be coming off 9 or 10 wins in a row by that point. The season starts now.
