will he be drafted?

they're saying that they're only expecting around 40 or so 'live picks' in this draft

Donโ€™t think he will, but may get an invite to train and potential Rookie I think

What's your thoughts onย Zane Zakostelsky mate?

196cm tall who's a bit of a utility playing between ruck and full back. He moves really well for a guy his size?

I think Heโ€™ll be drafted, fantastic athlete late to footy and only started playing KPD this season when WA needed 1. Wasnโ€™t in their initial squad but tried him there and he showed a bit.

ย I know he returned to colts and was played as a KPD at request of AFL scouts wanting to see him and Claremont being a club who put development as a priority, but with finals now on he will spend the rest of the season in the ruck.

Game sense and defensive craft need work but one I think clubs will take a punt on

A number of gaping holes have opened up in the list and we have the picks to fill them I hope we donโ€™t put all our eggs into pursuing one player when we need at least 4.!!!

Skillful mids
Pacey flankers
KPP swingman

Please & thanks

Deal with the rucks via trade

Adonski that is exactly what we need can you just add -with a bit of height.!!

Any way we can get pick 39 for Tomlinson if they are so desperate for a tall defender? He would be a fantastic defender for them and fit their defenders much better than his fit with Lever and May. Surely that would be better for all involved then spending 800k+ for Mckay.ย

So Tommos record of playing with Maysie and Rick is not a good fit ?

Funny we have not lost I believe around the 20 games that all three have played together going back to 2021.

And you know the Swans defenders so well that he is going to fit like a glove with them. Don't think they will rack up a 20 to Nil record if he goes there as you seem so desperately to want. Pick No 39 will be about 43/45 by The time we get it after F/S and Academy selections ahead.

Might ย get a diamond in the rough if JT and Lambie go to work but not really a great move that's if Tommo wants to go to the Swans.

You seem more about getting rid of Tommo for pick 39 (43 say) and saving Swans $800,000 than about us.ย

What I feel for Tommo is the same of how I feel about Grundy. I would prefer both to be playing but if Goody and the coaching staff refuse to play them unless there are several key injuries...they are far too good and are paid too well be be backups. We may as well be either trading in or developing players who will be getting more of a shot. This is a pretty good draft as any for key position players and rucks. We would only trade for a pick in the 30s if we had a deal that could bundle our picks up to get Gold Coast's or one of the WB's picks etc.ย

If what some have suggested is accurate, with the salary opening we might have this year we could possibly bring in Nick Haynes from GWS for a pick like 39 or later due to him being on a backended contract, smooth this out ala Geelong with Bowes and have a 3rd tall that Goody might actually play for once now he likes Petty as a forward. Maybe we can weasel Moyle from Gold Coast as part of the picks package to get pick 4?ย

tommo will be on less next year 450-500ish than haynes will be 900-1m smoothed down to say 600 for 2-3 years and is oyunger and a different type of player we actually require more (lockdown vs interceptor) so this whole process makes no sense and costs us more plus we'd be giving up a draft pick which is right in the JT TL sweet spot for roughies

We have the capacity to do a mini rebuild this this year that could keep our window open for a longer period.

@dazzledavey36ย I see Caleb Windsor is a bit of a bolter( up to 14) now. A classy mid apparently. Have you seen much of him?

Interesting to see Curtin slip down to 6. This means North / Hawks are more likely to chase Mckercher, Watson or Duursma before him allowing us to seriously consider trading with WCE Pick 1.ย

Its about time we were able to benefit from the draft during the same time we have been a good side. Considering how the Pies, Lions and in particular Doggies have continually stacked up on talent while they have not been in a re-build.ย

It's just his ratings and doesn't necessarily indicate where they're going to be selected

Ok this is a bit out there but what do u think ?

we trade Grundy and our pick 24 to SydneY, Sydney give us pick 11

We trade pick 5 pick 11 pick 15 to west coast for Harley Reidย

West coast can go after local talent throlstrop, curtin, edwards and hardeman

We then trade future first and future second and whatever else picks are left for Gold Coast pick 4

we end up with Harley Reid and either dursma/Watson/Oโ€™Sullivan/mckercherย

Just seen this.

I haven't seen him live but certainly watching the championships he stood out for me for his outside run and ability to hit up with his kicking skills.

He reminds me of the Isaac Smith just the way that he goes on his strides along the wing. He really is a 50-60m player. His work rate really is elite though, very similar to Langdon in thr way he'll just work up and down the wing.

Averaging 20 disposals per game in the Coates leagues and there is now talk he's a genuine top 15 pick. So he'll certainly be in the range for our pick.

The way I look at it is that Hunter will be 29 next year and we need to start to look into life after him.ย

Windsor would be the perfect replacement imo.

We can't have enough of players like this; Langdon, Salem and Hunter should all be fighting for spots 2024+

Cheers for that. If we donโ€™t trade up with our second pick he might appeal to us. I assume youโ€™d have Darcy Wilson ahead of him but heโ€™s unlikely to be on the board unless we trade up.ย

I think Wilson is still there at 15. Potentially around that 12-16 mark.

I like Wilson because he's got ability to play inside and out whereas Windsor is purely outside.

I think you're winning either way with these two.

Interested to see Charlie Edwards rise up into Calโ€™s listing. Heโ€™s at Melbourne Grammar and got better and better as the year progressed. ย His last few games at Sandy Dragons were hugely impressive. ย The dragons are a breeding ground for quality Mids.

If the Dees have a second round pick around the 22-25 range, he would be hopefully on JTs list.

190cms. Strong. Good pace. Inside or outside. Skills. Can kick 45+ metres.

Iโ€™m putting him into JTs list.ย

Definitely two preliminary finals this weekend will showcase lots of likely draftees talent at Devils and Dragons to watch in particular. ย I expect Charlie Edwards to be one of the key players in Dragons midfield alongside Ryley Sanders.ย

Looks like the style of mid we're in need of, impressive speed for his height

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... itโ€™s time to discuss this weekโ€™s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliverโ€™s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line โ€ฆ Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
