Good result so fat 30 minutes

No it wouldn't. Swans have beaten themselves today because of inaccurate kicking

True but Essendon showed they can find a way back when Sydney were a couple of goals up.

I mean this team lost to west coast last week and they beat a top 8 team today

Ad much as I dislike the dons. It is a good result for us

Couple of good results for us to start the round with both Carlton and Sydney losing.

Would it be asking too much for the Roos to knock over the Cats?

Great to see Carlton and now the Swans cough up games this weekend

So what damage do we think Geelong will do to nth tonight?

Ive said this before but you don't want to play the bottom eight teams in the run to the finals. Even they don't beat you you still come out with the wrong attitude when you do play the better teams.

Great game for the Dons, hopefully they play like this against other in the run home and make it difficult for others in the top 8.

Thye don’t have pressure to make finals but have a point to prove in their game plan  and keeping their coach so wouldn’t expect them to drop off.

Who would people rather make the finals out of Swans, Pies, Tigers or Dogs? Looks like those 4 will be fighting for 2 positions.

That looked like being a 10 goal drubbing at the start of the second quarter.

Kudos to the Bombers (shudder) on that performance.

Merrett was just asked about playing with stringer & he mentioned how he was an exciting player then put him in the same category as dusty, trac & Oliver. Please don't ever mention that name with the others

Why is this game at the MCG?

Cause we play away and the filth also. Needs a game at the "G" to pay the bills.

I am so conflicted BUT the "druggies" winning helps us. They, of course, still languish down the bottom. A vodka/red bull will help me feel better for their win.

Almost feel sorry for North. Could get 186 ugly.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

  • POSTGAME: Western Bulldogs

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
