It seemed like the boys were a bit thrown by the crisp, accurate lettering on the banner (particularly the exclamation mark) and it took them until the last quarter to shake off their admiration and fully concentrate on football.

I turned the commentary off at quarter time. Gives a much more balanced perspective, bizarrely so much of the AFL media are trying to construct negative views of us rather than acknowledge how remarkable what we are doing is.

They'll get over it. Nothing begets admiration as much as a winner, and if we keep winning they will turn.

Are you laying the blame for the poor 2nd and 3rd quarters at the feet of WCW MR?

To the D'landers at the game. Was the ground slippery? It seemed like the ball took many a strange bounce time and time again. Usually to our disadvantage as our boys were in the right spot for a regulation bounce.

Thank Barassi for our current depth.   ?????

My biblical figure of choosing considering my devotion to the religion that is the MFC.

I felt terrible for Kade Chandler. You’re frequently right on the very edge of the team. You come on with 15 to go and the result well beyond doubt, you have to make every chance to state your case count. He was trying to aggressively defend and he almost got it right, but ended up injuring the player. It was an accident and he seemed shaken.

You don’t need to be at the ground to know the ground was slippery, you’d be able to see that from Mars given all the players slipping over.

My small Checklist going into a Fox Footy televised game such as this evenings game:

Check that Dermie isn’t on special comments

Check that Kellie Underwood isn’t the play by play caller

The best news is we are 5 games clear of 9th with 13 games to play.

Dare I say it, looks like we’ll play finals this year guys. Fantastic.

Of all the 'firsts' we've ticked off on our 16 game winning run we can now add underwhelming 74 point win away against WC to the list.

The Army will hide the scissors from me this week. I’ll be relegated to sticking the freaking crepe paper together. 🙄

This is a perfect example of how a trend of not getting out of 2nd gear has now become a habit where we now can't kick goals.

It's concerning. The skill level forward of centre was hopeless.

Hopeless? Really? Was it hopeless 7 days ago? A better choice of word may have been “unusual”

There’s only one game that matters this year and the boys know it

Yep. Their faces walking off said it all. "9 down, 16 to go."

We now boast the best defence this year (per crude stats anyway), by just one point over Freo.

Not for the first WC seem to think it's to their advantage to water the ground. As well, the worst and most dangerous exhibition of maggotisms for the the year Lots of high stuff let go as well every experienced WC (suitable) player thought it was his job to knuckle another player..

Underwood's pre-game preparation . . . make sure I:

  1. mention the 2021 grand final (200 times),
  2. remember that Jackson is from WA,
  3. note that Brayshaw's brother is at Freeo,
  4. remind everyone that Jackson once played basketball,
  5. always refer to Ben Brown as Big Ben Brown,
  6. say that Jackson used to love Nic Nat,
  7. declare that May and Lever are good footballers,
  8. mention that Jackson used to support Meth Coke (10 times),
  9. observe that Kosi is a good footballer,
  10. suggest that Jackson will be keen to drive his price up today (five times).

Typo

i'll be very disappointed when we don't win by 74 points at perth stadium in future games

that's our greatest ever winning margin over meth coke

and their lowest ever score at home

happy days

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
