Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mr Incoherent strikes again. We are great, but are we that great that 3 opposition mids need to sacrifice their own game to stop us? It's hard enough getting one coach to apply a tag let alone 3.

The one thing I will agree with him on is that no matter how good these teams think their system is, they are going to have to modify it on gameday when they face us. The things that have gotten them to a point aren't going to prevail against Melbourne. It means situations where guys like Jack Higgins may be having a great season so far but his main ambition probably shouldn't be trying to get out the back to kick a few sausages, he may have to contribute to some forward pressure. It means Max King can't just demand their mids kick it on his head, he might have to move around a bit and create some leads. This MFC is not only taking teams best weapons away from them, they are taking individual players best weapons away from them too.

Hawthorn came with a plan that was probably never going to beat us but sure as hell came the closest that anyone has. Tagging one of our stars and moving the ball at every opportunity from the back and trying to catch us out. There's no real need to get the rocket scientists working on this Robbo, just figure out the best plan and execute as best as possible. Having said that I'm more than happy for these types of headlines each week!

Notice how BBB plays up and down the ground to provide options. No one sits at home in the goal square waiting for high kicks.

It is not about the players it is about the coaching system. Our players don't have pixie dust on them (well Gawn/Oliver/Tracc do), they don't have cheat codes, there are other players who are as fit, strong, clever etc. But they don't have the system. Until you break down our system or we lose too many players who can stick to it, other teams are going to come up donuts. Tagging is just a laughable idea because our system will make holes in that approach like a hot knife through butter. We have the best synergy of any team ever. There have been more skilled teams, but never ones with better synergy that is the coaching greatness  getting us to the point where we can say our system matches anything ever offered.

Or stricken by hubris and complacency. No sign of that yet from the team. Supporters, on the other hand...

We’re so above hubris or complacency it’s not funny. Our defence and midfield is 20% better than anyone else. Hard to see us not winning 4 on the trot

Would guess that most teams/coaches only have probably one to three (tops!!) genuine run with (cooler) or hard tag players in their arsenal who are capable (trained/skilled/mentally prepped) for taking on these roles anyway.

It would probably take a pre-season or at least a 'mini mid season pre-season' being put in to half a dozen or more guys to all of a sudden have a myriad of them at your disposal and attempt this strat.

And even if you were to do this you would then have to train the rest of your crew to adjust for the impact of this significant change on the zone/team defence side!

Robbo is an out there left thinker of the game and love his passion but boy he does come up with some whacko stuff at times.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
