Love everything the club has done with all this.

Not a complaint, as I understand how delayed logistics are at the moment, but would have been great if they could have made the Narrm merch available a little earlier. I ordered some within minutes of it being made available and doesn't look like it will arrive in time to be worn for at least our first game and potentially the second.

Would have been amazing to see Dees fans decked out in Narrm gear.

Nice.  A Narrm flag would have been good as well

I saw this morning they’ve added Narrm caps as well (which I quickly added to my cart).

I’m really hoping in the next AFLW season they make the Pride round jumpers available for purchase. I’d like nothing more to show up to the footy in my pride jumper with my Narrm scarf and hat on. My social justice outfit would really annoy some people - which would just make the footy so much more enjoyable for me.

I love how Naarm is absolutely ubiquitous at the moment. Presenters on Fox Footy using 'Naarm Demons' instead of phrasing 'Melbourne Demons', the AFL having Naarm on its ladder, and Naarm Demons logo as a portal to our website.

Does this show the cache of Melbourne/Naarm now as a force within the AFL community that all media parties have got on board?

Personally, I wouldn't be adverse for the name to be maintained...

Change can be hard... sometimes it can be absolutely joyous and meaningful at the same time.

Can't make the game this week, will  they have these for sale at the Freo game?

I'm taking a new Zealander to her first afl game against the Dockers. I ordered a narrm beanie for her on the 18th and it looks like it still hasn't been sent so I can't see it arriving on time. I might drop in to the store before the game to see if they have anything on hand.

When I ordered the Anzac top it was sent the next day and arrived shortly after. Very dissapointed about the beanie.

My friend has Maori heritage so loved the idea of a narrm beanie, plus she works at a cafe in footscray and some of her peers have already tried (and failed) to get her to get behind the dogs - at least partly due to our relationship. I was really looking forward to her wearing the beanie to work. I'm sure it will arrive eventually, but long after the back-to-back Doug Nichols rounds.

Update: I spoke to someone at the shop and they said the beanies arrived at the warehouse today and will be sent off today and tomorrow so there is still a slim chance it will arrive by Friday 🤞🏻

Good news mate, hopefully it arrives in time for the game 🙂

Bloody oath, at the end of the day isn't that what it's all about (edit - not just talking footy/indigenous round but life in general).

Unfortunately, despite getting an email yesterday from Australia Post saying I could expect my beanie in the mail today, it never arrived. I'll stop by the store on my way to the ground to see if they have any scarves left but I am not hopeful. Dissapointed

My Narrm beanie finally arrived, one business day too late, but it looks fantastic. Not only does it have our Narrm logo patch on the front but it has a snake devil patch on the back. I wish I had ordered two! Hopefully they'll be back next year

Love that we set the tone this year, I'd expect other clubs to follow suite next year.

Hearing that at least 6 other clubs will be doing this next year.

The club needs to talk to the MCC about gameday. It would be great if the music being played before the game and during the breaks was being performed by indigenous artists. (It's a different issue, but music after goals being scored should be abolished, though.)

I was going to order one when they were announced but thought they have some at the Freo Game.
They did not.

Hopefully they release another batch, otherwise i will wait until next year.

I think they greatly underestimated how popular the narrm range would be and under ordered particularly the scarves and beanies

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
