TEAMS: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn

Featured Replies

Even with the 4 outs (as well as Salem & Hibberd) it's still a very good team, chock full of talent.  Run your eyes across the team looking for the good/top players and they are everywhere.  And our system will stand up as well

And there are about 6 players who will be desperate to hang on to their spot in the side

Someone mentioned to me that if LJ, Kozzie & Sparrow aren't effected too badly by covid, they'll get the chance to get away from footy for a week (another bye?) ... all 3 are still very young and their replacements will be going at it anyway.

But covid can also be quite debilitating ... even for young & fit  athletes.  Fingers crossed the players affected make a speedy recovery

Petty being out is different as he has  just got back in the side but we're well off for tall depth with Tomlinson still being an emergency.  Adam hasn't done a lot wrong

5 goal victory and we'll shut down the last quarter again!

This year we have had up to 2 players missing ( except rd1 with more ). That is also  good players. Now it is 4 and this may have a telling effect. In a sense it is good some other players are getting a run but we don't want to drop one against the hawks.

It’s easy to forget we were without Lever, Petty,  Rivers and Salem(for 3.5 quarters) round 1.

Lever, Petty, Salem round 2 and 3.

That’s 3-4 players in the same part of the ground. In some ways that should be more difficult to cover than one back, one mid, one forward/ruck and one small forward, as important as they are.

We’ve covered incredibly well this year, I’d say the only team truly close to our best 22 was round 5 against GWS, and we all saw how that went. Hopefully we just get the W this week, go 2 games clear plus percentage in the top two and get our best 22 back for St Kilda.

Great opportunity for Bedford to shine and im sure TMac will be keen to make amends for being dropped.

Not a lot of midfield cover in the listed emergencies.

We have enough mids in the team already

I don’t understand: how can Grainger-Barass be an out as well as an emergency?

The positive is a lot of players are getting a nice rest.

For those that have had Covid, did it make you feel lethargic?

I guess he’s not part of the starting 22?

Good luck to any KPF out there on a day like has been forecast for Saturday.

At least our midfield looks strong (please don’t jinx it). As again, this is where it will be won and lost.

Bloody oath it did. It was the thing that stood out the most for me (and the cough that almost made me spew)

Even my young wife was knackered for a week. I was still tired 3 weeks after testing.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Bowser included.

Well then so much for several players getting a nice rest.

No, All I had was cough, loss of taste and smell, and loss of hearing, occasional headache. But otherwise no loss of energy🤩

Fortunately then, it would have no impact on the cheap red you guzzle by the gallon picket!

To be fair, the effects on people widely vary. On balance of probabilities you’d think extremely fit and healthy men in their 20s are likely to recover quicker than most.

The worst flu I ever had was when I was young and fit ( bike riding in extremis and gym) all lean lean muscle .

No I'm not fantasising  and it was quite some years ago yet I lost kgs and it took me weeks to recover.

As long as we get no more nasty last minute changes I think this is not a bad outcome.
If we stick to our system we will win.

Fatigue was my partners main concern, other symptoms were very mild, tiredness just took a little longer to clear.

Oh good, just 3 of the 5 senses wiped out. Any impact on ball handling skills 🤪

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
