Pretty pathetic if that is the case that they all would rather loose in the most drawn out way possible than put it all on the line and see if they can match us

I reckon next week will be different.

One of the strangest, if not the strangest games I've ever watched. Had we kicked straight it would have been near 100 points. We were that dominant, hey? And Richmond were lucky they took their chances, otherwise it could have still been 5-6 goal win. 30+ scoring shots is insane. And yet with 5 minutes to go there was a slight pang of nervousness amongst the MFC crowd. Bizarre.

I had one concern going into the game. All I'll say is I hope Jake Lever is back next week. Alternatively, Turner might need a game.

Or Tomlinson. But I don't think we have to worry, Lever should be a certainty.

On the AFL app they have “Injured” under Smith’s name, I was at work so missed the game, just watched the Mini highlights on Foxtel and I saw Smith with 4-6mins left unhurt, did he injure himself in the last few mins or just a mistake on the AFL app?

Great win we just keep on keeping on. The only sour note was the behinds. Gawn is the best player in  the land but Clarry has to be a close second. Trac is a fair way behind in 3rd. Love this team this domination could go on for 10 more years that's scary.

I'm getting a little tired of playing 1 quarter of footy to win games though. It's been 6 weeks of this trend and it's all well and good for people to say that we can go up a gear but when? It'd be nice to get into a habit of playing 4 quarters of footy or even 3 instead of 1. Much room for improvement.

Tbh I thought they were pretty consistent across the 4 qtrs. Kick even half straight and the game would have felt v diffferent

Got a whack in mouth from Cotchin (accidental bump?) - lots of blood, maybe cut lip or loose tooth/teeth- has towel up to mouth when song being sung in room

Gawn can be the most dominant ruck the game has seen and still lose club b&fs to Oliver. Oliver is the best midfielder in the whole history of Australian Rules football. It’s been around for over a century now. He is already that guy.

It’s very hard to keep winning, even though we didn’t finish our good work from the back often enough, it’s very obvious we are extremely hard to beat.
Shout out to Hunty, thought he was very good on Bolton. Petty will be a star if he’s not already.

Yeah, well done to Jayden. Was evident at the ground that we had a hard ‘tag’ on Bolton in our system whenever he went forward of centre.

I have an awful feeling that Jayden might miss out when we have our best backline but if he does jobs like that then he is a chance to stay in the team. I would prefer Jayden be able to play on a Charlie Cameron in September and get him thinking about defending Hunt and not just finding the footy.

Most Scoring Shots (31) vs Least Scoring Shots (14) of the year... so far.

This is how it felt watching, we were in control from start to finish and Richmond were flattered by our poor goal kicking and their fluky accuracy.

Petty had a huge game, was controlling the air with ease. His timing with ball in flight is superb.

Sparrow was very good

Clarry is looking like a man playing against boys at AFL level now, he is so strong and powerful and he’s just making good decisions consistently.

I reckon it was one of those little ‘nice guy’ Cotchin specials, where it was quite deliberate but he seems to escape scrutiny.

How many Charlie Camerons are there?

That head high impact to Dunstan was pretty rubbish. Was already being tackled and the other bloke elected to shoulder into his head. Should be reported for that.

I must be bored as I have just finished reading the Tigers on BigFooty Forum. Over 15 pages with just under half blaming the umpires for their loss along with hanging out half their players to dry as just not good enough for AFL. A lot believe it's an AFL directive to pay frees against their team but also blame the Dee's for staging to gain frees. Hate to see what they say/said after playing Footscray.

There was one clown (Goshka) who posted the following:-

"They are ordinary. This is our worst side since 2016 and with competent umpiring we would've pushed them. Every other club should hang their heads in shame letting this Melbourne team be the best side in the comp. Half of their 22 are absolute spuds. They're carried by 3 very good players." On a couple of his posts he keeps referring to their 3 flags to our 1. Haha.

Most agreed that it was a difficult game to watch and that Melbourne are street's ahead of them and very glad we didn't have our kicking boots on.

Weeds game has changed. He's one or two mtrs ahead of where he used to position himself before which is giving more contested possession and ground action.

Really good work for handball, shepherding and big body presence.

He still ball watches and finds himself out of position because of it. And there was a moment that was telling where he was facing our goal 60 out under pressure and hand passed a metre sideways to someone else under just as much pressure - take it on yourself, Sam.

He has a long way to go in my view but he will be carried a long way by this team if he plays his role.

Plus Lynch's first goal was an absolute gift.

He’s a classic front-runner. One of the least impressive players to get to 400 goals I reckon. Steven May would have been relishing the match-up.

I thought he kind of ran in to tackle then Cotchin raised his arm to fend off at the last second and Smith kind of ran in to it?  That vision  was from behind though so could be wrong 🤔

Mal.  Next you will be reading, Ray Shaws life storey. You need a bit of perspective.

But the game was never in doubt bar the very first 10 minutes. I did yell at the TV a couple of times but never at the umpire.  Stop reading that rubbish.

cheers mate,

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
