very interested to see how we go against the aints in a few weeks

they seem to be able to get a man - usually 'missy' higgins - out the back on a regular basis, and max king's height + mobility might actually be a tough match-up for may; i wonder whether petty might be a better match-up

They look like we should be able to do our usual thing - strangle them and prevent too many clean I 50s to King in particular

Agreed he has improved.  We'll have to wait until we play them to see how it pans out!

As above - strangle them.

Cold place near Scotland ?

First-world problems, but are the Giants' official 'orange and charcoal' colours a con-job? They look orange and blue to me.

Say nothing, it's not hard

He said it hit the ground and he was correct.

So now you can’t even say something which happened?

That sort of decision is only going to decrease respect, not improve it.
Absolute rubbish.

He could tell the umpire he is short and ugly too.

It's not a defence.

I love BT’s attention to detail:

Mentioned this is the first AFL game in Canberra for 2 years, since before COVID.

Pretty sure GWS played Dogs in Canberra on a Friday night in round 6 last year. A game which  BT himself would’ve commentated,  being a Friday night game.

Next it’s going to be coach’s dissent

Can you imagine how many free kicks Chris Scott will give away every time he rolls his eyes

I'm waiting for the AFL directive to broadcasters not to replay contentious free kicks.

What about sarcasm....is it covered under the rule?

A simple.... Great call umpire.

They also played a game against the Dees in round 3. Kozzie lit up Manuka that night

How was what he did dissent tho? He wasn’t rude. He wasn’t demonstrative. He wasn’t argumentative. He stated a fact and he was correct.
The rule is now “don’t talk to umpires”? If it is fine, but last week it was don’t put arms out, and I’ve seen 3 already go unpunished.

The dissent rule is impossible to umpire consistently.

Yes I was there with the advantage of not having to listen to BT

Needs to urgently replaced with abuse.  Disrespect is just so subjective. Is rolling the eyes allowed?

that's cos it's not a 'rule' it's an 'interpretation'

afl yet again seeing a molehill and making a mess of a mountain out of it

Don't complain about umpiring decisions. It doesn't matter how justified you think you are in telling the umpire that he is wrong, just don't do it.

Simple.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
