I watched Yze play a half for Old Melbournians against Old Ivanhoe in the midfield and thought he looked like an AFL player and he looked great yesterday. I still think the club will know more because they will understand if he has the running ability.

Definitely worth a look. Get in the gym Noah

Doesnt need the gym he looks strong enough definitely needs a running coach

I know people say the level gap between AFL and VFL is enormous but these guys are really playing well and the team looks like we want our AFL team to look. Different comps I know, but hey we are storming through these VFL teams (including Box Hill Hawks in previous game) and it’s very exciting. Love seeing the kids doing well and especially guys like Yze together with Kentfield and Laurie and Woey and Brown. They look like they’re getting better, and while some are cynical I bet there’s not a dees fan on here that isn’t hopeful that it will eventually translate into AFL level goodness for all of them.

I like most haven’t been convinced with Laurie yet, but also don’t think he was given a proper chance yet and if he stays at the club (which I hope he does) he looks like he will get better and I will trust in the footy department staff and Goody who backed him in to be the player we all hope he can be.

Very curious about Billings too…is he finally finding the form he should have been in if not for injuries over the past years? or is he just a really good VFL player? hopefukly he can find his AFL level too because that wpukd be mighty handy!

if nothing else, these VFL bpys are filling me with some genuine hope and excitement, as they will probabmy do for an incoming coach too.

All good things!

He plays very similar to his uncle Damien Yze, who was on our supplementary list years ago.

Depending who you ask, some in the GV area will tell you that Damien was by far a more talented player then Adam. Difference was, Adam wanted it desperately whilst Damien was happy to kick tons each year and enjoy the far more quiter country lifestyle.

Damien was a stock standard typical full forward who always kicked a ton wherever he played. Just a genuine freak of a footballer who could have made it big in the AFL had he applied himself like his brother.

Noah is eerily similar in terms of the tall solid build and the big hips. He seems to have a good contested mark to his game and I feel hes got similar traits to Jake Waterman.

Can see Adam in the background at the 2:55 mark..

I see more in Kentfield and Yze than JVR and definitely Jefferson.

At least we have Kentfield on the list.

i think you forget how good jvr was for casey as a teen in his first year

have faith, he'll come back to form at afl level

If hes anything like his uncle... 25 goals in a single game...

It’s not that I have forgotten. Jacob seems to have.

I don’t know I have always worried about his movement and forward instincts. You play off his left shoulder - you beat him; he just does his 25m leads at the space in front. Doesn’t demand the ball in the right spots, regardless of traffic, isn’t a natural CHF.

Hopefully, not his hairstyle.

I think he became a product of our game plan.

He has poor hands so getting on his bike and providing longer leads will help him. It will also help clear space behind him which, to be honest, may make us more dangerous. He’s an interesting talent but may end up out of the game if he doesn’t lock down a position. Big year for him in 26.

Don't know about Kentfield. Takes a nice grab, but that's about it. Might be his delayed start but appears slow

Not sure about that. He seems to get out the back and ditch his defender quite often. If it's not pace then it's workrate.

Or smarts.

Honestly, I don’t care if your tall forward is slow. He should be taking players to the ball.

Yeah, I am prepared to cut him some slack. I think there is a lot of upside, let's see what he can do with a full pre-season

Yeah I remember there was a Yzier Yze playing seconds in the 90’s and I would check the results and it would be Y Yze 3 goals or 4 goals every week. Never got a game in the firsts though. I think he played forward pocket as we may have had a regular KPF playing reserves. Then he just disappeared? I think I remember Gary Lyon once saying his nickname was “knock, knock” in reference to the pronunciation of his name, sounding like “who’s there”. That may have hastened his decision to change his name to Damien?

Yup agree, 3 times on Sat he took his man up the ground and burnt him back putting space on him inside 50, got 2 goals from it. And this is without a Pre-Season.

Only 19, huge upside. If he can have a good pre-season and keep improving, I like what he could become. Think the Dees plucked one here before he got to the draft.

The test will be next week, can he back it up. Fingers crossed

Noah looked really good on the weekend, albeit against fairly ordinary opposition with little pressure coming out of the middle.

My concern is how he would fare against AFL level opposition in a senior side where we almost never hit a leading target on the chest.

That said, I'd be more than happy to pay McAdam out and give Yze a rookie spot instead.

Height is not an issue 190cm, the lad is taller than Melksham 186 and Fritsch 188.

Whilst I agree, McAdam hasn't had a chance to prove himself yet.

Ollie Sestan did that too, somewhere in the bush.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
