No one outside our club will ever talk about bowey, or realise just how much we appreciate him. But he is very reliable.

Credit where credit is due, the suns are giving it everything and pushing us. The key for them will be maintaining this intensity whilst cleaning up their disposals and decision making.

Trac, Oliver and Jackson look too much for them to handle though.

Yeah I mean the Suns are going at 100% we are at 50%. If we can even it up and get more players involved that will be good.

Rivers knee still not 100%, Gussy hurt his shoulder in that spinorama collision and Smith has hurt fingers on his “good” hand… looks like the injury luck has deserted us.

The make shift defence is holding up well, midfield was slow to start and the fwds not quite able to hold the ball in as needed to keep the pressure on, great goal kicking though.

Can’t wait to see how we “muscle up” this last half.

Hunt having a mare. Needs to regroup and refocus

Feels that way…is he playing a specific role on someone??

Difficult to watch.

A few having a real crack, but almost the entire 22 very fumbly. And those kick around the corner to 3 Suns players is just so frustrating; we haven't seen that ina fair while and it is horrible to see again.

Jackson, Trac, Bowey, Tomlinson, Brayshaw.

Rivers should not be playing. His kicking which is usually so penetrating has been horrendous. Langdon running but not getting. Fritsch not going for balls with his name on it. And Suns players waltzing free through the middle time and time again.

If they had King, we would be well behind.

Bowey excellent

Bowey our best and to end the arguement now he gets more hard balls than Caleb Daniel would get in a season. Just sayin

I'm incredibly relaxed. IMHO It's all just good prac for our defence.

Meanwhile Bowey on target for a Rising Star nom.

Hoping Brown gets a few more.

Multi of mel/oliver/brown/bowey is on the table!

THIRD QUARTER CHAMPIONS ABOUT TO START.

Sensational Bowey first half.

If we have Lever and Salem we would be 6 goals up. Both can play that game.
We are running on fumes down back. It’s a makeshift defense with now 2 players who are clearly struggling with injuries. I hope Gus hasn’t hurt his shoulder and is just sore and bruised.

Very true. Still winning with quiet performances from a lot of the team.

Hoping his development may free up Riv to have a crack in the midfield over the next few years

🤞

Tracc and Jacko changed the game and Bowey is so smart with ball in hand.!!

Langdon not himself.

 Viney and Fritta doing little.

Spargo and Kozzie and Hunt likewise.

Get them going and all will be fine.

Need more space up forward.

Derm has an amazing ability to read the players minds and tell us exactly what they’re thinking.

Hey, he was a player from 25 years ago, how could he not know the minds of modern day players.

When is Hinkley going to be submitted to the blowtorch?

Yeah, fair enough. Our backline is showing its limitations due to personnel and May is being well beaten most of the time. Although Tomlinson is doing ok, he is being found out in the air.

He's had 18 disposals in the first half and running at 89% disposal efficiency and 307m gained for a half.

He won't get a rising star this week because he's not a sexy Josh Rochelle or Nick Daicos type.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
