Unfortunately it looks like that grand finals has mentally broken a lot of our players. Confidence is shot

:)

Lot of similarities between the Blues and the 2021 Dees. They are looking really good. OMac being a starting key back can’t be a good sign for them though.

More like us in 2018, won’t surprise me if they make a prelim, don’t expect them to go further

They're the real deal Carlton. Say what you want, but they absolutely have the cattle to finish top 4.

Their midfield and forward line is elite.

I think we broke the Bulldogs and it’s delightful.

Outwith a couple of key season ending injuries this game has had everything so far.

Their midfield win enough of the ball which means it's less pressure on their backs.

They have a good system in place.

Yep. They will struggle to win 8 games this year. The intensity has gone.
Beautiful thing…

We killed em off

Carlton are a genuine flag contender, not just a top 6 side that might scrounge out a finals win.

They remind me of Richmond (2017) and Melbourne (2021) in that they have a highly talented list that finally discovered a magic formula and group buy in over summer, just like what we did last summer.

They’re an extremely impressive and dangerous side thus far.

I really hate Carlscum.

I hope Buddy kicks his 1,000th tomorrow and gets it over and done with.  Fox Footy and SEN mention it every 5 minutes

Based on this form they are, but no one would have rated Melbourne a shot at a flag in round 2 last year, and rightly so. Only the true believers had faith - and just because some of us were right doesn't mean it's going to prove to be true this year.

I'll reserve my judgment - I simply don't think the pace they play at will be repeatable for the entire year.

Doggies woken up

No way making a call about Carlton yet. Dust doesn't settle until about round 8. Their midfield is very, very good but Cripps will probably not be able to sustain his current rate of work, and their defence can be easily exposed as shaky and vulnerable.

And the Doggies are a proud bunch with a brilliant skipper, I doubt they will roll over.

Weightman is over-rated - two awful kicks - very lucky with the second one.. Hannan does very little.

Wasn't McGovern standing still? How can the fault be his?

That doesn’t hold up in finals tho as you know.
Carlton have the talent to finish top 4. So do the Dogs. Both have very suspect backlines.

Doggies have turned up the heat. We'll see what Carlton are made out of now.

Carlton's backline has fallen apart since Oscar didn't come back after half time😁

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
