My beef’s not with you but with the so-called experts who did a strange 360 degree turn in a matter of a week. Knightmare on 25 April, 2021 (the day after the game):- “The team got pumped by 100+ points. I wouldn't read too much into anyone's performances. No one starred, and I can count on one hand those who I'd consider to have rising stocks as a result of the game.” A week later, Andrew has come from nowhere to be in the top 15 in Knightmare’s power rankings. I think I was entitled to think that to be most unusual. As for Howes and JVR, I agree that both had quiet days but who wouldn’t given they were played in the forward line for the entire match in a team that lost by 130 points? According to my notes, JVR presented well and had a few good moments. Not longer after the game he was diagnosed as having glandular fever. Despite that I declared on Demonland nearly three months before the draft that I preferred him to Andrew. And you have a problem with that? Lol.. You got sucked in by Knightmare like most have over the journey. That plonker lost all credibility when he he stated that Collingwood had a better draft haul then Melbourne in the 2019 draft period and said that Melbourne taking Jackson at 3 was a complete mistake. You also were pretty vocal leading into the draft in saying that Mac Andrew would not go inside the top the 10. You went quiet that night.. Whilst I stated that I personally didn't rate him even a top 15 prospect there was enough noise coming from actual draft experts like Cal Twomey that he was going to be a top 10 draftee regardless of of what people think. Clubs like Richmond, GWS, GC and St Kilda were heavily linked to him leading into the draft. Maybe their full time recruiters have no idea either? I couldn't give a [censored] Mac just fyi and was not fazed one bit we missed out. Means we were able to address a bigger need in bringing in a developing key forward. Just thinks it's laughable you're still finding ways to continually knock the kid. 1 Quote

Just thinks it's laughable you're still finding ways to continually knock the kid. You have poor comprehension skills. There’s a difference between asking questions about a player and “knocking” him. We seem to both agree that Knightmare and one or two others are “plonkers” and neither of us rated him top 15. That’s great because one club took him at #5 and while it might not have been a wasted selection, other clubs reaped the benefit. As it turns out, I believe we’re one of those clubs. 2 Quote

I'd happily take a handful of reserves players off their hands. Curiously, Footscray's Darcy, lined up as a key defender. 3 Quote

Based on his statistics, he’s had only a couple of games where you could say he was anywhere near among the best players in the team. He’s being played as a tall, key defender and not in the ruck. However, given that he’s been recruited by the Suns as a long term prospect, that won’t concern them very much at this stage of the journey. 5 1 Quote

I hope nobody takes him because I think he's got great potential, and would love to see us pick him up with a late pick in the ND, or as a rookie. He might go unnoticed because he's playing 2nd ruck to Daw. Edited May 25, 2022 by mo64 2 Quote

Eagles would do very well if they trade their #1 or #2 pick for two top 10 picks and upgrade some later picks for a late 1st round pick and aim for some combo of Hewett, Gilbey, Busslinger and Broadbent all from WA. That will get their rebuild off to a decent start and save them the trouble and trade cost of trading WA talent back from interstate at a later date. iirc most of their 2021 draft choices were from WA. 1 Quote

That's how much I don't like his game. His game at Morwell was borderline awful, turning it over by hand repeatedly in traffic, lazy tracking back, dropping marks in open space et cetera, falling into packs, clogging the game et cetera. Most of his tackles are dropping on the top of a player at ground level and most of his touches are little gives that don't amount to much. His stoppage pressure factor is almost non-existent. The last game he played at NAB level he did some shocking things. Other than having reasonably quick hands inside at times, and neat by foot at times, I've not seen anything of AFL standard from him, apart from pretty stats and I think he got mentioned in a team of the week somewhere because he got 36 possessions. At the risk of you calling me a troglodyte again and for some reason not getting banned, it would really help coverage of junior football on this site if you wouldnt just drop names out of thin air without watching them and if that's not the case, rewatch some of the Stingrays games and then put some actualy reasoning why you rate them, because it's bizarre, though not surprising, that if your covering so much football his is the name you pluck out. But I think I've worked out what's happening. I think maybe you think he will be a forward. 1 Quote

Whispering_Jack 31,381 Posted June 4, 2022 Author Posted June 4, 2022 There’s a NAB League game currently in progress between Dandenong Stingrays and GWV Rebels with the Rays leading by 25 points. Our NGA prospect Finn Emile-Brennan has continued to impress at Dandenong and is looking more and more like a top 40 prospect which unfortunately will probably rule him out of our grasp. There’s an interesting player with Dandenong who is going to have to make a big decision very soon as to whether to go with an AFL or a cricket career. There are big wraps on him in both sports but I suspect that he might chose cricket in which case a baggy green cap somewhere down the line is definitely on the cards. His name is Harry DeMattia - he’s bottom age and he kicked two goals on NAB League debut last week. 1 1 Quote
