Kynan Brown put in a mammoth performance yesterday in their wildcard round against Northern Knights.

25 disposals, 5 tackles, 4 marks and kicked 5.2 for the day.

We have a beauty on our hands I reckon.

IMO this kid has been grossly underrated, both here and in general draft discussion.  I was nervously hoping it would remain that way.

Slow down KB!

That's an impressive stat line at any level. Playing in the best underage comp in the country and this kids improvement is amazing over this season.

The Guns  have taken a big leap as well

A very impressive effort!

His Father Nathan D. Brown would be incredibly proud!

Well done Kynan Brown!

Let's hope the Demons pick him up in this year's AFL National Draft as a Father-Son selection!

Incredible.

Who do we think he can replace long term in our side?

How's his general field kicking? If he nails enough targets then on top of the other upside that's good enough for me.

I thought he was too small but I guess there's plenty of successful small midfielders around - he's already taller than Lachie Neale and Brent Harvey.

.....and Jack Viney 😉

is one of the reasons he's not being 'talked up' - despite this sort of performance and being declared vic metro mvp at the national championships - because he was an 'overager' in the underage competition this year?

Actually, he’s not overage at all although he was born in January so he’s older than many in that age group.

Date of birth: 13/1/2005.

that's weird, the sun was saying he was

but, then sun being wrong? colour me shocked

Late developer which is preferred by many recruiters.

Gets some good mentions on Rookie me scouting notes. Easy to google.

One game noted " eye catching acceleration after sharking hitouts"

On another note from a different game a couple of weeks ago " Brown has a turn of speed, shared the ball and has had phenomenal numbers in the last handfull of games".

I was searching for opinions on his 'speed'. Seems to be ok.

In his last hitout against Eastern he performed just as well if not better than the 'wizard' Watson.

Kynan has really stepped up in the U18's after his stint with Casey.

Scouting notes say he is a hard worker.

Twomey still thinks he will be a rookie or late pick.

We may well be on to something here. Time will tell.

ANB. Plays that roll really well.

I think he can learn from and replace Viney. Similiar left foot kick and he's as hard as anyone. Just needs the body to match, but this can come with Viney showing him how to lift.

I like your thinking.  Will he ever be able to bench press 150kg like Jack?

I like this. I think he’ll have the work ethic to do it as well. I’ve watched maybe 15(?) of his games over the last couple of years and he just gets better. His running is better, his kicking is better, his extraction is better. I’m keen to see him work with Max Viney on evading tackles. I’m not expecting him to play year 1 or 2 and be a regular contributor. But you can see that he is an afl player and is going to put pressure on selection.

Agree he is getting better as time goes by. Recruiters like those sorts of young players. If we are to extend our 'window' we need quality players coming through even if it takes 2 or 3 years for them to become regulars.

We need to nail this draft. Kalini White coming in a few drafts time.

Late draft pick or rookie pick.

We had to keep him under wraps but he got excited towards the end of the year.

Kynan will be on our list next year. Lots of physical development and skills work. But he’s got the heart of a lion.

Who's next in line for F/S consideration?

Yze jnr? White jnr?

Some reports on their likelyhood would be much appreciated

White in 2 years, he's in the U16s now. Will be a hybrid ruck/forward. Young Yze would be lucky to be rookied.

Has the club made any contract with brown or his family, or has any party said yes to this, has brown committed him self to us, getting nervous since we will be apparently only be taking two picks this draft

Does anyone know what's happening with Kynan. I gather up till now he hasn't nominated the Dees and the Dees haven't done whatever they have to do if he does. Does anyone know the cutoff date for father/son nominations.

Does anyone also know whether if he nominates us and we accept that nomination or whatever the process is do we have to take him in the draft or can we leave it to the Rookie draft and if we do that can we still access him as a father son or just take the gamble he'll still be there at our pick.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
