Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Firstly the first thing I'll say is that the bulldogs will be the benchmark of the VFL with great players like Wallis, West, Ugle-Hagen and co and Casey will be a lot better when they get our quality VFL players out on the park like Zaharkis and co.

Team

B: D.Smith, Ellison, McVee

HB: Baker, 51, Freeman

C: Howes, Dunstan, Woewodin

HF: Melksham, van Rooyen, Rosman

F: Moniz-Wakefield, Weideman, M.Brown

FOLL: Bell, White, Laurie

IC: Munro, Goonan, Quigley, Grey, 54, 69 (sudanese player)

Goals: 4  M.Brown, 1 Dunstan, Howes, van Rooyen, Weideman

D.Smith - Unassuming player, took a speccy but was otherwise quiet.

McVee - Only touched the ball a couple of time, plenty to work with

Baker - Started off well but died out of the game.

Howes - showed some good signs particually early.

Dunstan - Went ok but I expected more from him.

Woewodin - Played well particually early gave a great chase down tackle.

Melksham - Disappointing never got going and missed a goal he would normally kick.

van Rooyen - Showed some signs considering he had limited opportunites. Took a great contested mark and done a great chase down tackle to go with his goal.

Rosman - Is a worry doesn't seem to get a lot of the ball, needs to improve dramatically to keep his spot on the list.

Moniz-Wakefield - Quiet and missed a sitter.

Weideman - Played a fair bit in the ruck. Went OK without being special.

M.Brown - Just knows where the goals are a perfect replacement for Fritsch if he gets injured.

Laurie - Went ok plenty to work with not out of his depth.

Hey Werridee, thanks for your efforts today, much appreciated.

But tell me, what happened to the great depth we are supposed to have (not including the extra VFL players)? It doesn't sound like any of these guys will be pushing for senior selection any time soon.

Probably under selling the depth of the bulldogs they have as good as depth as anyone. Mitch.Brown is close to selection, his 4 goals can't be ignored. We missed the strength of Daw in the ruck.

They dominated the midfield and games are won in  the midfield and our midfield is young except for Dunstan and White who really isn't a midfielder. Give them time Howes, Laurie, Woewodin look promising. The bulldogs were top of the table last year I don't see that changing. If we played a lesser side we could have very well won.

With the Melbourne injury list probably at it longest in a couple of years, it certainly wasn’t the strongest Casey team out there in the park.

Kade Chandler, Majak Daw, Michael Hibberd, Jake Lever, Harrison Petty, Trent Rivers and Daniel Turner are all missing through injury/unavailability  by my calculations. Also none of the new top up players although it’s not clear as to whether they’re eligible yet.

Happy to be proven wrong but there’s no indication the former afl players we’ve added to our top up list will actually play for Casey. They’re all making more money with less work playing local footy. We can’t afford Zaharakis, Lonie, Reid, Moore! Buntine will play and Conca we might be able to talk in to some Casey footy given he’s around the group, most likely he plays local footy or has a rest. Not the others.

They’re only signed in case we start having injuries and covid cases and get down towards the bare minimum.

They desperately need to play him on a half back flank and teach him how to defend and contest. He’ll never learn the game on the wing or half forward.

Why have you signaled out one player and given him a label.

That's my understanding, they stay at local level and only play at if needed.

Well that's a shame. Casey really haven't got the depth to cover our injuries. I thought with Zaharakis, Lonie, Reid and Moore we could push for the flag but without them the Bulldogs will beat us like they did last night.

I think these added blokes like Lonie and Zaharakis are AFL Covid impact cover as opposed to being Casey recruits for 2022. Casey in 2022 will be AFL listed plus guys like Munro, Buntine, Freeman, White, Etc.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
