Farewell Luke Jackson

Freo don't have a top 5 pick. While they could trade up for a higher pick, we will lose value to achieve this.

Gold Coast fought tooth and nail to get a top 10 pick from Hawthorn for O'Meara and St Kilda did a great trade for them in order to broker the deal.

Conversely, the Cats took a number of lower picks from WCE for Kelly, which, in aggregate, added up to more than pick 1 in value and was a better deal.

I would prefer we take a collection of lower picks and let our brains trust work out how to push up or down the draft board. Brokerage is expensive in the AFL system.

Exactly the Kelly deal with the best parallel in recent years. If only Jackson would give us 1-2 more years we could work on a better deal. The reason cats were able to get that deal was wc had effectively 2 years to come up with the picks.

And Jackson knows that there is a lot of scum bag coaches out there who train their rabble to injure Max, and in turn he could have to play under.

Amazed some people are saying that they would accept Meek, Pick 14 and an early 2nd round pick for Dogga. He's 2 first round picks (at least one of which should be in the top 10) at a minimum.

As others have said, if we can come away with Grundy, an early pick to get another young key forward and a developing young ruck and Brodie Grundy, then that's something at least.

Am I the only one that thinks WCE needs Jackson more then Freo does?

Always thought WCE would be his home but I thought they might wait until Nic Nat is closer to retirement.

Their ladder position this year puts them in such a great position that they may feel they need to move this year. What better use is there for picks 2 and 20 (?)

Money (salary cap) could be an issue but I'm sure it could be worked out

Sam Edmund on SEN today.

Luke Jackson (Melbourne)

“West Coast believe they’re still in the hunt for Luke, so we cannot rule out the Eagles.

“Fremantle are seen to be the frontrunner there, that might still be the case, but the Eagles maintain they’re still in the race for the WA-born ruckman.

“Luke Jackson’s gone, let’s just state that as fact.”

As I posted on the trade thread, it's only a fact when he's gone Sam...

Opinions on 'protocol' please.

Should supporters boo a player at age 22 when he returns to play your team, after he has helped land 2 premierships and chooses to go and be employed elsewhere?

Yeah I'm torn what to believe.

History will say when you've put contract talks until the end of the season then then points to you being gone.

Yet, I see how invested and happy here is around the boys still and it gives me a glimmer of hope. Unless he's announced to teammates internally and they've made the decision to accept and still embrace him as a teammate until we're done this year.

And if so... how's THAT for loving and supportive culture. 👌

Agree, NicNat in for more knee surgery. He's fat, probably because he can't train.

I think the determining factor for people who go the boo will be whether they feel we are fairly compensated.

Be filthy if he goes but don't believe in booing premiership players

Agree dazz', I think he's a good kid and would love to keep him.

At least he's invested in the now which is great.

The rest will sort itself out in time.

So when do we think Dogga announces he is staying? Media know [censored] all.

I sort of hoped / felt that he made the announcement in the first Q v BNE.

in the week after their last game.

He's already decided ( no matter what he says) so he will just get it done.

I speculate he's really sure now  which may be what he played so well against Brisbane.

Perhaps weight off his shoulders  even though it was pretty likely 3 months ago

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
