We were on the ropes and ready to crack up half way through the third quarter. Bont was tearing us apart. Keath and Naughton marking everything. Gawn dropping easy marks. Then the most extraordinary 15 minutes of footy I’ve ever seen by us. Absolutely amazing centre clearance work by the tag team beasts of Petracca and Oliver.

And Viney / Harmes

This story might have been posted elsewhere on this site but these 2 likely lads have made such a difference

Two junior Australian rules players celebrate winning a match.

How courageous was the Bowey v Weightman match up? Well done, Bowser. You killed him.

And once again ... would it have been the same without our WA Demon supporters waving the flag and cheering on the boys?

Maybe it's an accident of history, but whatever ... our supporters rose to the occasion and gave the team the reception and support they deserved.

WA are Aussie Rules royalty and cheered on our boys in the manner required. Thank you WA demons and ...

GO DEMONS!!

Weid did a lap of the ground to give the crowd high fives. I yelled out "stay with us Weid!"

When he got to me he jumped and went "Whoo!" and gave me the biggest high five.

No idea if there was anything to read into it or not. But he was a happy man for the team.

Jetta also got a good reception, although he was more subdued than weid.

Just shed a tear, build up of emotions. On a personal level and after years of disappointment. This is unreal, so happy and proud of everyone involved!

There were into each other too. Not sure if it was on caught on camera.

Neither of them took a backwards step.

I noticed a few of the boys giving a few extra push and shoves to Hannan too. I get the impression that he wasn't the most loved team mate.

I can see the dvd version but in this day and age HD is the minimum standard - sorry just a tech head.

I’ll pay whatever - no question on that.

Sanity are advertising a blu ray, but later release date. Also a collectors edition premiership pack, with extra ‘stuff’. Also later. Looks like they’re gonna make us double dip….DVD first, then blu ray, then whiz bang everything edition.

Just saw over at Bogfooty Trav20/Hannibal telling Dees fans to ‘stay grounded’…

WTF?

After what you all have been through - you do what you [censored] like short of violence.

Seriously, your club was the butt of jokes of people that barely knew footy - don’t waste your time trying to impress them with being ‘measured’.

You just be you!

Go Dees

Gus was fantastic tonight.

“My big brother and I were talking and we agreed to stay grounded, you’ll go on ignore”.

Another bit of fun:

But for BBB's(?) poster, 13th Premiership by 13 goals.

Was he directly on him a lot? Saw Bowey shake hands with Treloar at the start. Then saw him out body Bailey Smith in a marking contest too. And was sat on by JJ for that hanger obviously. But certainly was on Weightman a lot including a number of crucial contests late.

175cm. Just turned 19. Predominantly played wing and half forward as a junior. Missed the whole year last year from covid. Interrupted VFL season. What a story.

His quick hands, reading of the player, ability to compete in the air for a small, so much to like. And he's still just getting a taste and hasn't really had a huge chance to do what he does best which is chop a game up with his kicking.

To all my fellow Demonlanders, I opened that bottle of Wild Turkey tonight. Guess what? The cork dried out and I corked the bottle. Once I got it open, it was the sweetest taste of fulfilment. I thought i would cry, but the enjoyment of knowing we won with 15 minutes left in the last just allowed me and the family to enjoy the moment . What a feeling! Go Dee's. I love Youse all.

I saw the 1964 Grand Final and have wondered endlessly whether my grandchildren whose houses are today decked out in red and blue would ever see a Melbourne premiership

There is so much to consider and I don’t pretend to be a brilliant analyst

Better recruiting allied with pruning of the list

A couple of wildcards - Bayley Fritsch

For me a special mention of the daring coaching tactic of handballing forward into danger trusting in the ability of the attacking player to carry forward the contest whereas for so many years the convention has been to handball backwards (the only team I can recall as successfully countering this in 2021 was Collingwood for whatever reason)

The development through Casey that has given some young ones with talent the experience of this Cup that can be carried forward

Also  - from today’s game : we are building for the future

perhaps to create not a one hit wonder but something special and ongoing

My cup runneth over and our fourteen grandchildren not to mention five children have their faith and loyalty rewarded and they have witnessed a true team triumph (without individualism)

Brilliant, just brilliant, very happy for you and the Dees brigade.

Thank you to all on Demonland for your contributions over the years.
Enjoy this day you all deserve it.
You have all kept me sane through the dark days.
The future is bright.

Showing true colours - I once said to him that I reckon he likes to be seen as ‘a reasonable Dees fan’ more that he like being a Dees fan…

I'm early to bed, early to rise. What am I doing on D'land at this time of night?

It must be that something momentous has happened.

Something big, earth shaking.

Fifty seven years of curse! Lifted!

Demons the greatest team in the land.

Destroyed, absolutely took apart, the next best team.

Football aficionados like close grand finals. Huge comebacks. Or match saving marks in the last minute. That kind of thing.

Well fluck that.

The oldest club, the greatest club, has shown what finals football is all about.

The greatest club has shown how to play finals football. Not pretty. Not champagne. Just relentless spirit. Never say die.

The greatest club is back where it belongs.

THANK YOU DEMONS

GO DEMONS.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
