Can't say I'd be particularly flattered at the likeness if I were Max, but hey it has a premiership cup in his beard so that earns it a lot of points.

Just realised Spargo only had 58% time on ground.

Wonder how bad the ankle really was.

In most matches there are quite a few rotations of centre square personnel.

In the GF it was always Gawn/Jackson + Oliver/Trac/Viney. Perhaps once or twice Harmes was in there? I guess in a GF you put in the A team as much as possible.

And for anyone wondering that's Sharon Neal Bullen who's been lifted up on someone's shoulders. What a ****jng legend!

I will forever be gutted that this was in Perth.
I really hope we can do it again next year at the G and we can enjoy the party.
While I’m 800 years too old to celebrate for 48 hours straight, the adrenaline of winning a flag will surely see me thru for a solid 2 to 3 hours.

Part of me is a bit concerned on the load those three carry

And 2013 was the beginning of the Clarko Cluster of coached and assistant coached premierships that was broken by Goodwin on Saturday.

So if history repeats, Goodwin to win 2021-2023 before falling to an Adem Yze drought breaking St Kilda premiership in 2024, sprinkle some Chaplin, Stafford or Choco premierships between 2025-2028

Before handing over the reigns to coach Gawn in 2030

??

Not sure a 3peat is enough for us tbh

Magnificent fitness management.  Flying start to the year, mid year mini slump, then the run home absolutely unprecedented.  ❤️💙❤️💙

Just started watching the replay for the first time...

Sparrow was fantastic in the first quarter, so impactful...

Sparrow played very very well throughout the match i thought and showed maturity beyond his age / experience.  Imposed himself on many contests and boy does he bang in when it's his turn.  The goal off a few steps amongst 4 Doggies from 50ish in the 3rd.  The kick to Brown in the last.  Some great in close ball work & sharing of the pill etc.

I left him out when i mentioned the magic mid field crew of Max, Dogga, Clarry, Tracc & Viney.  My bad.  He had one crazy good finals series given his lack of experience.  Bowey also of course.

Does anyone have any intel regarding the movements of the players tonight? I was hoping they’d be back out on the turps, I have tomorrow off work and was hoping to meet up with them and conduct some interviews.

If you're gonna fantasise at least let us get the 4peat sheesh

I suspected the Demons were loading before they basically admitted so after the Port game and I also thought perhaps the Dogs did the same thing pre-finals which could account for their losses to Essendon, Hawks and Port. Difference is ours didn't cost us top 4 (or the minor premiership) and we also didn't get belted by inferior sides like the Dogs did against the Bombers/Hawks. Collingwood was probably our worst game of the season and even then we only lost by 3 goals (with a couple of late ones to the Pies from memory).

Hopefully our new strength and conditioning coach (the guy we poached from Brisbane?) has been taking copious notes.

I dont follow the NFL, but I've heard this Tom Brady chap is a clear modern day GOAT. So a Petracca #5peat would be the fitting finale to the 4peat. Solidifying himself as the best of all time. Go Dees!

Sorry if this has already been asked; is there a link to replay if the game that includes the halftime performance?
Thanks

Reflected on this with some mates...the game was so absorbing that I didn't even notice that BT was commentating.

Really?

The inaccuracies, the unfinished sentences, the hyperbolic rantings, the cliches... His commentary was horrendous.

Luke Hodge wasn't much better.

Kudos to James Brayshaw though. Never been a huge fan. But he was factual, read the game beautifully, accurate and when the time was right to get excited he came up with: Bang... bang, bang, bang, after Oliver's goal! Loved it.

Taylor and Hodge versus Brayshaw and Daisy was like chalk and cheese.

Brady is GOAT and he's still going. Won 3 superbowls with New England between 2001-2004 (missed 1) won another 3 between 2013-2017 (missed 1, lost 1) and then shifted teams last season and won another with Tampa Bay. In the years he didn't make the superbowl they were generally playing off for the Superbowl in conference championships (equivalent to the Prelims).

If we could emulate the Patriots over the last couple of decades I wouldn't complain.

Centre bounce attendances as per the AFL App, from a total of 34 centre bounces.

Petracca 31 (94% tog)
Oliver 31  (89% tog)
Viney 30 (79% tog)
Gawn 21 (86% tog)
Jackson 13 (78% tog)
Harmes 7 (71% tog)
Sparrow 3  (66% tog)

There were definitely times where Harmes and Sparrow would've been on ball and Petracca forward after the bounces too. Harmes was covering the 3rd wing role, possibly Sparrow for Langdon's one 5 minute break for the entire game as well.

But yeah there was definitely a shift in the finals not to bother with Oliver or Viney going forward at all. When they were on they were going to be on ball.

Really important to acknowledge just how %^&*)!!! good ALL the role-players were. Tom Mac had a quiet day, but still popped up for 2 goals  and his determined push on Cordy to make sure the Sparrow goal went through was but one of any number of acts that don't even register on the stats but contributed to the victory. But agree on Sparrow, a real coming of age, especially when he was in/out of the team throughout the year.

The dust is starting settle, especially in my dry tear ducts, I’ve yet to fully read this thread yet but I’ll get out my thoughts while I take a break from constant replay and footage.

The 2 weeks of commentary about how the bulldogs would win sucked me right in. I’m pessimistic about us at the best of times. MFCSS was strong with this one. Gawn was gunna get bashed, Josh [censored] Schache was going to stop Lever, their midfield would run wild and Noughton would kick 18.

First quarter I just thought we looked on and instantly settled my nerves which in turn made me angry for letting myself get my hopes up. I’m a lunatic.
But we looked on, Trac’s clean pick up and goal from 50 had me in awe, our superstar was ready to go.
The rest of the quarter felt like the prelim. The misses were starting to worry me. Biggest worry going in was inaccuracy.

2nd quarter my world crumbled. Bont was the most hated man on earth, and [censored] Collingwood.

3rd quarter I realised Johannisen was still on a list. Bont kicked his 3rd and it broke me. This year I’ve been comfortable we’re never out of it. But Bont looked like a man possessed, I thought there’s no stopping this. Helmet Daniel was racking em up. I’d seen it all before.
Then bang, bang, bang, bang! Absolute football perfection. The greatest football I’ve seen from anyone ever. Seeing Treloar hang his head and Bont saying wtf, I knew. Euphoria kicks in.

Tried to calm myself at 3qtr time. Resist the urge to pick up my phone (which is constantly buzzing by now) and msg anyone, can’t jinx it.

Last quarter euphoria continued. I’ve seen my beloved Liverpool win Champions League and Premier League in the last few years, but this is a happiness levels above.
I start crying seconds before Luke Hodge says “I wonder if Melbourne supporters are shedding a tear yet” I hear that and start laughing, I’m a crying laughing maniac.
We’re up by 55, it’s safe to pick up my phone - Treloar kicks a goal GOD DAMN IT. Reply to my best mate, a Collingwood supporter fully invested in us winning. Start bawling.

We [censored] did it. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe how absolutely dominant we’ve been since Geelong were 44 up. We didn’t just win the premiership we [censored] annihilated the supposed next best teams. This is the stuff of dreams.

Just wanted to make mention of a team - first act that I have only just noticed on a replay. As we know, Kossie hardly touched the ball all game, but he did have a few great defensive moments. The one I want to highlight involves the Petracca dribbling goal, where  Kossie does a powerful front on shepherd/bump on Dunkley to prevent him from possibly tackling Petracca. Dunkley ends up on his back and Petracca gets the 6 points. Just luv this kid.

I'd forgotten about those snide remarks earlier in the year. Well, shove that right up them.

Is this true? Does anyone have the CBAs?

I post on BigFooty as well as Demonland. I haven't forgotten.

Remember when Richmond supporters said Kozzie would regret pointing to the scoreboard when they played us in September 🤣🤣. I think that one is my favourite.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
