When’s the podcast this week? I’m going to need to hear Binman’s overconfidence to calm the nerves.

Monday night @ 8:30pm

I need it too.

I was brimming with confidence on Friday night and then I watched the Bulldogs game. I need @binman to tell me we got this to make it through the next 12 days or so.

Andy: goooooooood evening demonlanders, the demons beat geelong by 83 points but with the dogs thrashing Port Adelaide in the other game my MFCSS is worse than ever and I can’t help but think this is just setting us up for the greatest of disappointments, losing the grand final in a repeat of 1954.

George: If beating the cats three times in one season hasn’t cured your MFCSS yet nothing will.

binman: Don’t worry Andy, we’ll smash em, absolutely smash em.

This is perhaps the most accurate description of our podcast.

My two favourite lines from Titus’s Knee Jerk Reaction

Max Gawn looks like a Viking, and he treated Geelong like it was a small medieval monastery on the coast of England.

This pressure showed when Joe Selwood complained about a fifty-metre penalty given against him, which was like watching an arsonist complaining that they got burnt.

If anyone is feeling bored or looking to get that warm fuzzy feeling I suggest watching the replay of this prelim and just take note through the entire broadcast who the no1 high five'r/celebrator/hugger is after every goal/spoil/pressure act.

Tom "Fridge" Sparrow

once you see it it's hard to not to notice how much of a team roll the kid played Friday night.

The future is bright post Jack Viney!

How was he, in the back of frame, jumping up like a fan in the front row when Maxxy clunked the pack mark in the third!

I didn’t notice it live but after 16 replays, the goal ANB kicked in the first quarter was all due to Sparrow deliberately knocking the ball down to him after jumping over Esava. Kid is playing some sort of a role.

Classic stuff, thanks @FarNorthernD. Napoleon had his "Waterloo" moment - Geelong had their "Lindesfarne" moment.

(and no I'm not referring to Lindesfarne Tasmania)

Watching the Prelim with the SEN commentary. Gerard Healey calling non free kicks for Geelong whilst frees the we get are lucky. I can’t work out if he dislikes Melbourne more than I dislike him

The same in the Grand Final when Picket went down ahead of the Brayshaw goal, most were calling for a free to Pickett, taken high, but Gerard described it as “that was a serious throw from Kozzy Pickett”.

What the hell are you talking about? Healy was on us from early in the season. Didn’t drop off when we had our dip mid year. Not everyone has a nefarious agenda against you.

Yes, and he was super confident in his pre-game on the couch show tipping Dees by 4 goals.

Pickett doesn’t get many frees for someone who cops a lot of head high tackles!! In comparison to Selwood is unbelievable!

Melbourne torching Geelong in this game from  5 min mark onwards was excellent, and then to hear Coach excuse Scott topped it off! Just grand!! Max’s 5 was ok to, particularly the 4 in the 3rd, just outrageous!

In my season rewatch I reached the prelim final last night. Unlike most games where I watch one quarter an evening this one I watched in one sitting.

It is arguably the most comprehensive performance of the season. Other than missing a few gettable goals in the second? quarter it was near faultless.

The GF was special and no one will forget that 35 odd minutes of domination but I think this game was the pinnacle performance wise.

Obvious kudos to Max but the performances by Brown, Spargo, Petty ANB..the list goes.... on are what should stand us in good stead in the coming season.

I’d have to watch them again but I felt the rnd 12 Brisbane game was our most complete, they were up and firing, have us a real contest… Cats were terrible the Prelim, god I love it!! Long may it continue.

Thought I'd watch the Dogs v Port Prelim

I had almost forgotten that we were fish and chip wrappers by Monday.

Footy is a funny game

I still find it amazing that Hinkley has kept his job.
i really like Ken as a person, but that Performance from Port, at Home, should have been a Coach Killer…

What is he going to say to them now?

Port were diabolical that night.

Doubt they laid one tackle in the first half.

I'm no Healy sympathiser, but Kozzie did just lift the ball up when on the ground. But he should have got the free for too high 3 seconds earlier. Ump squaring off?

Healy drives me nuts when commentating as it seems he always looks for negatives.

And do you notice how he inhales very loudly before making a comment!

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
