Absolute joke we are playing ahead of a Coleman medallist.

Doesn’t say much for BB if you ask me - I’m not convinced he’d do any better - IMO it’s 50/50 if he’ll ever play well again

Our forward line remains a real weakness

I have never been a fan of Weid but have been happy to give him some time but I just can’t see anything that suggests he is capable of being a decent senior AFL forward

Shame we didn’t have Jason Taylor for the 2015 AFL Draft.

Probably would have ended up with a better prospect…McKay, Rioli, Himmelberg, Hipwood or Menegola

Weideman may prove us wrong and all credit to him if he does this with us like TMac or at another club but if we keep playing him at the expense of BBB the we only have ourselves to blame.

Mate Jason Taylor was a recruiting manager that year..

He aint going anywhere.

Why would you leave a club you've been at thats finally competing and will for the next 5 years?

One injury to either Jackson, Brown or Tmac and he's in

Well that would be a worry.

Id prefer Mitch Brown over Weideman after his game today.

After five years you can make a reasonable judgement call about his future.

His surname is pedigree but he hasnt consistently showed it.

Why keep someone who hasnt done well for five years?

So he can do little for another five?

Isnt that a definition of insanity?

This guy has the chance to add a half million a year to his next contract by performing. Not made of the right stuff.

Haven’t we had Taylor since about 2012?

Stand very much corrected Dazzle/Layzie!

Would prefer Hipwood/McKay or Himmelberg over Weid if we could turn back time.

I don’t believe negotiations will be protracted anymore. Weid will be lucky to be offered base salary assuming he doesn’t get the chop.

People will try defend him and blame the midfielders disposal, but let’s be honest, who here would continue to kick to someone who drops the ball 100% of the time.

In fact the mids are doing the right thing by not kicking it to him as if they do he will either be out-marked or his opponent will stroll away from him as a rebound with no pressure

i think he'll stay, a 2yr deal on no where near the money we previously offered him or he wanted and if after next year he hasn't pushed tmac out of the side which could still happen given tmac wasnt much better today then he might leave. but he wont want to leave on a multi year deal coz his value is at its lowest he won't get paid much at all anywhere

If you think he is ever pushing TMac out of the side you are dead set kidding yourself.

Let's hope clubs are circling because he is a spud.

True. But just to be transparent, I believe this article was from a couple of years ago. But couldn’t be more prudent now! He has zero bargaining chips at the moment. I think the club will delist him

Where is the Weid that starred against the Cats in the first final in 2018. He has the ability, what has gone wrong.

Unlike most of you, I refuse to write him off, now.

How many more games or seasons?

lI can say is BYE BYE

It's hard to estimate where his value sits at the moment. He clearly has talent and he's shown he can perform at the senior level, but his season to date (alongside the final month of 2020) has left much to be desired. Looking at the stats, he's only managed 4 goals from his last 9 games of senior football.

He just seems totally devoid of any confidence at the moment. Marks aren't sticking, goals aren't coming and his impact on the side over the last month has been non-existent. It's hard to see him playing against the Bombers in 12 days. Like many, I'm hoping he can turn it around but the clock is ticking.

On the plus side, I'm looking forward to Big Benny Brown have an extended run at full forward after the bye.

Jason Taylor made a curious comment a couple years ago that recruiters on occasions get it wrong, but just wished they had asked a certain specific question or two at the time to maybe weed out a few issues regrading personality and drive etc. The easy call at the time would have been thinking this statement was in regards to Trac, but I sincerely felt he was referring Weid. Has all the tools but never remotely displayed the hunger. Said to a Wobbles mate this week that he would most likely be at their club next year, the only issue being now that Eddie has gone they were less likely to pay overs.

It’s obvious the FD rate him and I can see what they see but you can’t be so bereft of confidence that you go into your shell for a month. He was backed in by the MC and Goodwin and he couldn’t get there. I remember seeing him bashful and embarrassed after the Bulldogs win and I thought to myself - ‘really? You are upset with your own performance after that win? You can’t get out of your head for 5 mins and enjoy a great team win?’

He didn’t lose me after that because I think anyone can turn it around but he has a long way to go and it may be best for all parties if we move on.

We have a bonafide FF ready to take his spot and he is OOC… Cest la vie…

Maybe we can trade Weeds and Brisbane’s 2nd rounder for a pick in the 20s

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
