I guess it's fitting that the best two teams of 2021 end up in the Grand Final together, but if the Bulldogs win in a fortnight the AFL must scrap the pre-whatever bye.

I think this bye was brought in to cover any potential quarantine issues - it has given the Doggies a serious hand in resting and recuperating.

Split the center clearances with the dogs and I trust our defensive zone will do the rest.

while the dogs have been pretty good, port has been pretty ordinary and that is being polite to them. So many of their players fumbled the ball all nite long, they didnt chase, did not cover their man, could not hold marks, and constantly kicked to the opposition. Woeful performance. But credit to the dogs, they beat what was on the field. They will win by a healthy margin which will hopefully ensure our players respect them and dont get to far ahead of themselves. Play like we did Friday and the dogs play the way they did tonight and it will be a great final, with i believe Melbourne winning. We have a far better backline, ruck and midfield and forward line that should see us home.

Understatement of the decade.
If I was a Port supporter I would be calling for blood. It’s one thing to lose, it’s another to play gutless weak football from minute one of a prelim.

Bailey Smith is absolutely on fire. He is killing them. I have no idea who plays on him.

It’s obviously Lingers or Brayshaw. He played a little more high half forward too.

Dogs have to win this by 70+ to make it the most lopsided Prelim week in V/AFL history. I want them to do it so we can add it to the "Embarrassing records" thread, which I think over time will need a new name.

Most one-sided weekend in Preliminary final history.

Can’t play Lingers on him because that ruins our attack. Too negative. Gus can’t cover him for speed. A real danger matchup.

Port are seriously just woeful. This is the most disgraceful finals performance I’ve ever seen.

At lest the Cats were past their bedtime.

I understand why it was brought in, but when was the last time the Bulldogs even stepped foot in a COVID hotspot? They've rotated between Tasmania, QLD and now SA over the last fortnight.

There's no reason they shouldn't be able to fly to WA tonight/tomorrow and play at Optus next Saturday.

They're being gifted a huge advantage to recover and help injured players get back in, just like 2016.

Port should have played Geelong. We may have got a close game tonight 😂

Nil all draw?

Odds

Melbourne 1.60 Bulldogs 2.35

Libba is a slang term for sperm in Maltese. They used to shout it with a lot of other expletives at Sunshine George Cross games I'd go to a long time ago.

It also helps us get May fit.

Brought in to deal with quarantine issues with McLaughan and his cronies. Even though the bye might appear to disadvantage us, there are a few pros:

- we performed very strongly after our last bye last night, so following a similar program where we have an intense inter-club match effectively again should do the trick;

- the Bulldogs have got some momentum now in the finals... it halts that;

- it gives May a chance to recover and play - he's super important to our structure.

True…my MFCSS has kicked back in!

Was hoping they'd have a tough, close, physical bruising game, oh well.

Anybody just see that power fan giving Dixon the middle finger on the boundary?

Classic Port  flat track bullies.  Very weak effort.
Cats result more like expected - old, slow, one dimensional.

I'm looking forward to Kane Cornes take on this game

Yes indeed. He will be brutal

And now, things got real.

While they faded late, up til round 20, they were the team who we always seemed destined to play.

Strap yerself in kiddies. She’s going to be a granny for the ages.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
