You have NFI Dazzle, if that is your real name....

If that is his real name?

Comedy gold adonski.

If that is your real name....

Who do we play on Tuohy?  (I would nominate myself but the hammies are a touch tight)

It's getting tiresome to be honest.

Anyway. Some that I saw last night regarding Selwood. Can someone please explain to me what the difference is?

Selwood gave away the free kick just like Greene. This surely has to be looked at? Can't just have a scapegoat in Greene and not have consistency with Selwood.

Wasn’t even mentioned in the commentary. Three wise monkey approach.

If we play our best, and Geelong play theirs, it's a 4 goal win to the Dees. To put it simply, in 2021 we are a better side.

The issue for me is that Selwood, Hawkins and Tuohy can be magnificent end-of-game players. They stank it up big time in our Round 22 match but I can't accept they will be that bad twice. With Duncan, Eva and Tuohy in, it does change the nature of their ball movement.

We will win the midfield, and our defence should be good enough to cover their forwards. It comes down to our forward team pressure and goal kicking accuracy. Get this right, we win.

This week is going to be interminable....

Dangerfield went to hospital.  So was Careless, High contact, high impact 3 weeks reduced to 2.

Kelly unhurt. So Careless, high contact, low impact. $1000 fine.

Not saying that is ok but it’s the system

I'll try and explain in simple terms.

This was Geelongs forward 6 last night. Besides Miers, all 5 players are well over 187cm tall plus. They have Brad Close who comes in and plays a high half forward. Salem and Rivers will take Close and Miers. Where does that leave Bowey? Who does he take?

Last time they didn't have Ratugolea and instead had Dahlhaus, so there was a match up there.

Hibberd or Hunt are my potential ins.

May on Hawkins

Petty on Cameron

Lever on Ratagolea

Smith on Rohan

Bowey/Salem on Miers

Rivers on Menegola

I reckon this changes though with the extra tall they have.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Smith who take Cameron (remember he did do the job on him last year) and Lever takes Rohan

Lever doesn't exactly play on a tall, he plays on a medium to small forward because this allows him to play to his strengths as a intercept defender.

This is why Petty has taken the 2nd best tall forward.

Don't be surprised if its:

May - Hawkins

Smith - Cameron

Petty - Ratugolea

Lever - Rohan.

Wow talk about MFCSS to the max. We’ve all wanted to see our boys go deep in September, and when the moment arrives some just completely drop their bundle.

These are the moments to enjoy, not be anxious about. I’m pumped and will be for the next 7 days. We are up our eyeballs in it this year.

Comrades............Dees.............BELIEVE

Well said!

embrace it......like our players will.

it’s a new era

Ratugolea isn't their 2nd best tall forward though.

And personally I don't think Lever is great when the ball is on the deck so having him on Rohan could be danger.

No I know that, Ratugolea did nothing last night except crash a few packs and Chris Scott was happy with his game. They'll try and put the Ratugolea match up on Lever as a negating role and expose him on on one if they can.

That's why I think they'll try and move Petty on to him, again this is freeing up Lever in not taking a tall.

I think Smith suits Cameron. He'll match him in the air and on ground level. If he plays a full lockdown on Cameron then that'll certainly help our chances.

But Rohan hasnt exactly done anything the past month and a bit. He's lucky to be in the team especially after his woeful 1st final performance. He doesn't worry me.

Rohan likes to play higher up as well which Lever will just sit back and play his game. In fact I think last time Lever was at times matched up on Gryan Miers as well?

Rat is the new knuckle man, but I have put a bit into this bloke and I don't think that he is.

Their best side is looking a bit top heavy for mine, and I hope they continue with it.

Main thing for me is consistency. If you are going to pay knocking the hands and holding, both during marking contests don't forget to tell both Teams .We don't need any new rule of the week rubbish.

We don't want lunch at the Cats Coach's private resort before the game..

Yeah Rohan isn't in great shape (kicked two last night though) and is a notoriously invisible finals player, but for mine he has far more potential to turn a game than Ratugolea does. If Ratugolea even plays that is, we're all just assuming that's what the Cats will do. Should he play, I'm not particularly worried about him having an impact, so IMO that makes him the perfect matchup for Lever. Petty would be wasted on Ratugolea IMO.

Since coming back into the team, Smith has seemingly been used on small forwards so I'm not sure if they'll change that up now should he stay in the team.

Just for the record, my real name is Colin B. Flaubert.

I got it changed by deed poll.

I’m sure that’s how the Tigers felt about Cox heading into the 2018 PF as well. We all know what happened there.

Could be this DD36

Petty  and ratagolea are same height, harry a fraction lighter, but far better footballer

Smith has the tank to run with Cameron up the ground which is his speciality, just needs to be careful he's not turned inside  out with Cameron running back to Goal.

Completly takes Rohan out of the equation, whom l

Lever can handle whilst doing his intercepts.

I agree with this, but I think Rivers can take Rohan. There’s only a 1cm height difference between the two, and rivers has good wheels.

I think it’s going to be:

Hawkins - May

Cameron - Smith

Esava - Petty

Rohan - Rivers

Close - Lever

Bowey - Miers

Menegola - Salem

Geelong are a older, harder, side they will hit our younger, lighter bodies with every legal, illegal and accidental contact they can,

a lot of commentators will applaud this as the epitome of finals footy, by all means the intensity and pressure must be there but it must be within the rules, the head highs, the in the backs, the late push, the holding accompanied with a punch must be fairly recognised. Both sides must play to the same rules.

I am not reassured that Geelong are not favoured, but more significantly that Melbourne are disadvantaged.

The writing is on the wall, an eternal privelege of the Cats, alone. The umpires, representing the AFL Board onfield, must be attentive by applying penalities for what will be ahead, as you advise. Otherwise, for all other teams, the whole season has been a sham and a construct of particular disappointment and selected liberties outside of football  standards. Honouring the time-honoured rules of the game - even the more questionable, recent rules - must be achieved.

Cameron and Hawkins, probably in that order, worry me the most. But if we play the game our way, then we're playing a forward half game and those two don't see a lot of it.

As always, will be won in the midfield. Accuracy will also be a huge factor. Can we apply enough post clearance pressure and can we take our chances forward of centre? Do both of those and we win IMV.

This may be my MFCSS running around in my head, but does Geelong have an advantage in recently play a game in Perth so they are a bit more familiar with the ground? I know we only played there 4-5 weeks ago, but I feel the fact that Cats have been in Perth the same time as us, played at Optus stadium and now have a 7 day break erodes some of the advantage we have in making the PF. I honestly think if Melbourne had been given the choice, we would have picked Adelaide Oval again.

On the topic of Hawkins how the hell does he get away with the forearm to the head and commentators say there is nothing in it, not to mention his continual hands in the back that the umps ignore?

An insult on the mechanisms that uphold Aussie Rules' integrity. Gillon is too scared to challenge the abomination.

No doubt we’ll get to have a run on Optus sometime this week. Also as you said, we played WCE there not too long ago.

anytime, ANYWHERE

Just think this time next week we could be celebrating the fact not only have we knocked the cats out of a prelim but we will be in the grand final. Oh please let that be the case

Not a bad suggestion actually re Rivers/Rohan match up.

Those line ups are pretty much what I'd go with also.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
