Luckily for me South Australians are now able to travel to WA without quarantining,

If we do make the GF the only issue would be potentially travelling with a plane full of Port Adelaide Supporters, basically hell on an aircraft.

For information travel from SA would be fine, I got the approval this evening for the Preliminary Final.

That’s right, that’s why my hotel can be cancelled and my flights  changed with no change fee due to COVID-19 restrictions/outbreaks.

I have booked a hotel in Perth to quarantine. Not sure of logistics beyond this, but as a MFC/MCC Premium Member I get a guaranteed GF Ticket. I  intend to use it.....  even if I am stuck in a hotel for one week or even two.  Who is joining me?

I don't think their premier is letting anyone in. Can't even have Neitz or Barassi just incase to present the cup.

I'm a WA member without a Grand final guarantee ticket, though I did enquire it earlier in the year.

I'm betting on the normal percentage allocation for supporters will be in far excess of all WA demon members and I should get my tickets with the family. My tigers mate got tickets to the Tigers v GWS GF by also being a GWS member as it was so cheap. They couldn't fill their quota.

Just bought flights to Perth from Cairns. Then found out Qld is still on WA's naughty Covid list, despite the distance of no-case Cairns to Southeast Queensland being about the same as Norway to Portugal. Back to Darwin for a couple weeks, I think.

Just saw on the news that since “it’s harder to get a GF ticket than a ticket to Willy Wonka’s” some astute Western Australians have found a loophole. They can purchase an MFC membership with a GFG! Apparently 300 of these memberships have been bought today.

Was pretty sure memberships aren't on sale anymore. You sure this wasn't a sangroper pulling your leg? (via the news)

"IF" we make it to the GF in Perth, it's going to be super-important that one way or another we can get as many Demons fans at the ground on the day.

Say we're playing Port and the SA/WA border is open, just imagine how many Port fans will flood into WA and overwhelm our supporters.

Not to our advantage but then again, it could make the premiership even sweeter.

Nah, legit news item. The reporter spoke to a guy who’d just bought one.

Besides, aren’t memberships always available for purchase?

Posted this on another thread, maybe better suited here. Maybe there’s a chance for some of us to get there for the prelim mb. I hope I heard right on the news earlier when they said as of Monday Victorians can enter WA as long as they’ve had one shot of the vaccine. Didn’t hear any other details though.

That is incorrect Lord, i called up yesterday and the GF Guarantees and Interstate memberships priority 2 are being bought up big style by people in WA.

Wouldn't suprise me if Port supports are exploiting this too.

The only thing standing in Port supporters way is the $1200 (currently) airplane tickets plus.

There is a loop hole for sure. I've never tried driving from Adel to Perth but i have heard its a long 3 day process.

Hmmm methinks it is wise for me to not watch the news while doing a crossword, chatting on the phone and all the while not even in the same room as the TV

😁

Oh its true its damn true WCW.

Holy hell peeps!

We've gotta get past a Prelim first....

I'm keeping my powder very dry right now but so much of this thread reads like we're a dead certainty!

I thought I’d heard right. But then along comes @Lord Nev and makes me think I’m getting old and muddled! 😆

Not today, dementia. Not today!

And have to quarantine for two weeks, of course. And on the news they said also a permit is required. This is probs all moot now since today we (Vic) were raised to high risk status by WA so it’ll probably be even harder.

Thanks. Damn..thought some were a sneaky chance of heading over for next week as I didn’t hear anything about still requiring to quarantine. Oh well…back on the couch.

To answer the question in the OP I'm pretty sure Pert already answered this (or a members email) saying the GF guarantee tickets are strictly non-transferable meaning you cannot buy one and pass it on. Of course there are probably ways around this but I assume the main reason is to stop scalping (what's to stop members buying a ticket and then selling it at an exorbitant price and then claiming they gave it to a "friend"?)

The plus side is if you are a member and can attend in WA you should be able to get a ticket as the majority of MFC members would live in Melbourne and so we would be unlikely to fill the quota of MFC member allotments for the GF in Perth.

I confirmed in writing as did Brownie they are not transferable. You can get a refund for the GFG portion

I've driven from Perth to Gippsland in a bit over 2.5 days in a ****ty ute with a full load

Have the GFG but flights from Hobart to Perth are currently $1600 return. Could fly to Adelaide for $300 return then road trip. What an adventure that would be.

You might need to define "a full load"

No cert, as I said "IF".

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
