This is the definition of optimism.

I bought a one way Flexi plane ticket to Perth leaving Sept 9 (with a 15 day window to the GF if it is on the 28th of sept).

I'll be double vaccinated by Aug 31 and I've told work if there's chance to get to perth, I'm gone!

I think Victoria is classified as 'medium risk'.  Does that not require an entry permit first then do the14 day quarantine?

I don't see why we can't hold it and just make it for double jabbas only.  Don't open any catering/bars and anyone in the toilets / entry points masked.  1/3rd capacity with distancing.  35,000 and open it up to members only.   NO CORPORATES!  I know it's not this simple and we have to make it of course but no Harmes in dreaming a little surely

Single jab would suffice surely with a negative test.

Just rip the bandaid off already, Gil. 😞

I'm not sure he can. Doesn't the AFL have an agreement with the State of Victoria that the GF will be at the MCG for the next 30-50 years? If that's right, I think the AFL needs the Vic Govt's approval to stage it elsewhere and possibly that approval has not as yet been forthcoming.

I'm not expecting the Vic Govt to be unreasonable. I just think they're not quite ready yet to concede.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can just rock up to WA from Victoria and just do 14 days quarantine for a holiday. I'd have thought you'd have to have a reason ie: moving to WA and not just to go to the footy?

If we’re medium risk by GF day, I doubt even the MFC board of directors let alone MFC supporters would even be allowed in.

That’s exactly correct.

Low risk means you can quarantine for 14 days in WA for any reason.

Medium risk means you must have a special permit to enter.

I think there’s going to be some influential Melbourne people that will miss the Gf, as well as the die hard supporters.

No we can't.  That is what I mean about needing an entry permit while we are classified medium risk.  And McGovern ist giving those only in exceptional circumstances.

I was gently alerting @Doug Reemerto the fact he needs an entry permit from Victoria which he may not have considered.

They may not.  Mc Govern has made it clear player/staff families won't be allowed in and any VIP's must do the 14 day quarantine assuming they can get an entry permit.

I’ve checked the WA G2 pass website and you’re correct - as a medium risk you need to be an ‘approved traveller’ to get let in even to do hotel quarantine. This may change if we were categorised a low risk but I just can’t see that happening in time.

I am well aware of the WA permit situation.

I read the entire thing 2 weeks ago. I bought the airfare for $300. It’s a flexi ticket. So if I cancel I can get a flight credit. At the time I was hoping the COVID cases would go down and hopefully VIC would be a low risk area allowed to quarantine for 14 days to enter.

After the price hike of the 2018 Prelim which I did not go to. I thought I would rather roll the dice early on.

Think I may need a team of lawyers of the Mr Burns caliber to find a loop hole now though!

Vote 1 Rusty Nails for Premiere!

A month is early to be making plans for the GF but I get that they need to have a plan.

Well if MFC potentially winning a flag for the first time in 57 years isn't exceptional circumstances, I don't know what is!

I honestly never thought I'd see one in my lifetime and now I have hope

*tongue in cheek

Imagine… cases go down in Victoria… WA has an outbreak the week after the prelim… GF back in Victoria. Bam!

Haha as long as it's W.A. DR.  I might get a GF seat yet (should we make it!)

Speaking of the G, we trained there today.

Being in WA, this is nuts.

Please Dees, please make the GF.

I will represent you all.

I will eat 50 pies, drink 4,000 beers and make a dozen cheese boards.

As another fellow WA Demons fan, it feels almost too good be true.

Desperately hoping the inspirational power of Agassi and Giannis propels us into the GF.

Gillon on is naive in the extreme trusting McGowan - he who closed Optus as crowds arrived over one case.
Rather like Biden trusting the Taliban to let anyone who wants to leave Kabul do so.
Probsbly the most trustworthy would be SA or Tasmania (and better time zone too especially if he wants smother night match )

I need the fonzi shark jumping gif

taliban = this

okie dokes!

👀👀📡🏌🏻🧨🤷‍♀️

So McGowan has already gone back on his promise to open the borders at 70 80% vaccinated with other state dictators and now the AFL has given this clown approval by holding the Grand Final there. Disgusted.

Would've thought this inspirational power would be more suited to WCE. 😬

I haven't passed this with the MFC yet but I would be happy to take part in a recreation of the GF with the guys should they be successful? The medieval guys in the park look pretty cool.

I can do a pretty good "Dangerwinge" if Jack Viney promises not to bash my head in, any takers?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
