Maybe the other clubs realise he'll be going to Melbourne as a father-son so no point in inviting him.

Is this Kid any good?? Any body see him play?

Running around for the allies as we speak.  Nothing to write home about for the game in general, but at 1/2 time is leading the Allies Fantasy points.

In the games I’ve watched he’s a “component of a winning team” rather than the man. I can’t really liken him to anyone of our list. I’m a fan and would love him at the Dees. Fitness base is going to be a big thing for him. The flair is great; it’s the non-negotiables that id want to see when he comes into the side.

I got to a couple Nightcliff games earlier this year (unaware that we had an NGA prospect running around), but nothing really stood out. A kid against men though.

If we do draft him, the good thing is that the kid will have plenty of time to develop. No rush for him to play seniors straight away given the age profile of our list.

Looks ok. I think he’s got the potential to be a half back or wing type runner.  I’d like to see him given a rookie spot and develop under Choco, wheels and Nev Jetta.

I haven't seen him play but it's likely that we won't have a rookie spot to give to him. Is he better than Woewodin?

Possibly our last pick in the rookie draft or alternatively an invite to take part in the pre season as a possible supplemental draft pick in March.

We already have 6 rookies that's the maximum.

To be exact, the number is seven at the moment but the club has the capacity to upgrade a player or players from the rookie list (which I expect to happen at least with James Jordon) and delist further players before the draft.

No? Maybe? It’s a really tough year because you don’t get to see them play against each other in the championships and today they had a couple of training sessions together before playing. So no real system or understanding of the players around them.

Woey knows where to stand, runs both ways, and his teammates know where he is for the outlet. So looks better in the WA system.

AMW has flair to his game and a turn of speed. He takes the game on and is exciting. But he was either not getting a handball or he’d break away and have nothing to kick too.

I’d love to have both in the Dees next year and I think we are lucky to have them available to us. My “gut” feel, compared to last couple of years, is that they are 38-55 sort of range. Real late second / third round players who have good ceilings.

IIRC - James Jordon singed up for two years mid-season

Yes, he can be signed up on a contract but at the end of the year, he has to be uplifted from the primary list. This year, he could end up being one of the three players to go onto the senior list at the time of the draft.

The pandemic and the closure of borders has played havoc with sport between the states. Last week the Tasmanian Sheffield Shield side skipped town from Brisbane before a ball was bowled in fear that Annastacia Palaszczuk might lock the town down. The Allies managed to thread together an assorted team but there was no chance that a competitive game would occur. AMZ acquitted himself well in the circumstances and was named in the best, albeit he only managed to get 10 touches.

No not really, and it doesn't work that way.

Nick Daicos got an invite when he's pretty much already with Collingwood already.

It's just mean Taj hasn't got that much interest really.

His old man, Shane, didn't have much interest in him either at the same age but went on and won a brownlow.

Looking forward to the "Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Taj Woewodin" thread on Demonland.

You do realise a lot has changed since this post in August?

Woewodin has since gotten invite to the National combine which means more clubs have raised interest.

It should come out within the next few weeks that Melbourne will hopefully nominate Woewodin as a father son selection.

Firewall … could you please provide the quote referencing AMW?

a bit more information on the kid, if we can get him as a cat B i think it'd be a good get given chandler/bedford are yet to really stamp themselves as afl grade small forwards and laurie more of an up the ground type AMW i think would be more of a deeper player hopefully loves the tackle once he bulks up

🎊 It’s his 18th birthday today  🎉

(or maybe it’s his “age” today?)

Yes definitely more of an outside midfield runner.
Like to see him brought in as a Rookie.

Then get him into the Brayshaw household as another young Demon boarder.  Even if he didn’t make it, the Brayshaws produce and develop fine young men and footballers.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
