Geelong again just having the time of their lives out there lining up blokes and dumping them in tackles.
God I hate that club so much. Please let’s smash them next week and in finals.

I reckon if the bye round is scrapped then both Cats and us will rest quite a few players. Will be nearly a Casey V Cats reserves game. Cats will rest Selwood , Danger and may lose Hawkins but I doubt that as he is a protected species. We could rest Gawn, Kozzie and anyone else with a niggle or two. Makes sense and boy will the AFL be peeved off if it happens.

Waste your breath and pen won't happen with Dees.

Anyone know if they will play both our and Dogs/Power game at the same time?

No why?
They will play Friday night and we will play Sat night definitely for FTA privilege and interest.

If the Dogs win on Friday night, we'll know that:

  1. A win gets us a home final vs Port
  2. A loss gets us a home final vs the Dogs

Port's record against the top 8 is poor and if they lose to the Dogs it will get poorer. I'd prefer a home final vs Port than the Dogs, to be honest.

But if there's no pre-finals bye, if the Dogs win and we know we're top 2 no matter what, I wouldn't be surprised to see some late outs to rest some players (and/or avoid injuries - e.g. May's never played a final, it would break my heart more than anything, ever, if he got injured in Round 23).

Would wait until seeing outcome of Port v Bulldogs on Friday. If Bulldogs win then go for mass resting.

Out: Petracca, Oliver, Brown, Jackson, Gawn, Pickett, Langdon, Brayshaw,  Lever, Fritsch, ANB

In: Viney, Vanderberg, Daw, Weiderman, Bradtke, Bedford, Baker, Rosman, Lockhart, Laurie, Chandler

And if we subsequently win by 50+ points, it’d be pretty hard to break back into that line-up for finals

I’ve said many times that I’m not a Melksham fan (he wasn’t great today) but I still like the idea of him being in the team.

Possibly at the expense of Jordon, but I don’t know.

Brayshaw needs to find a bit of form, he looked way off today.

I like Melksham too but I was thinking replacing a forward with a forward instead of a midfielder. Brayshaw does have to lift lucky for him he has brownie points.

Yep Smith unlucky.

Jack lucky.

I think the 3 players that will be dropped are unlucky. They didn't play bad they just weren't that great.

Just put Brayshaw in the middle for a bit - he's a natural midfielder, and I know he's been doing a great job defensively on that wing, but I reckon he'd be better in the middle than Harmes/Sparrow combined. Who goes on the wing? Harmes? Viney?

Harmes shouldn’t be getting a game, put Brayshaw in the middle and Oscar on the wing

Aside from Sydney, who else out of the top 6 contenders have been more disadvantaged by fixture changes than us? Just wondering.

We had to play two home games in Sydney. We did play the GC home game at Docklands, but only after spending 8 hours flying to and from Brisbane the day before for nothing.

From memory, Port, Cats and Dogs have basically played all their home games at home.

Lions played a game or two on the Gold Coast and the rest at the Gabba.

Moving the Geelong game to the MCG therefore isn't as unjust as it might seem...

If Dogs beat Port on Friday I wonder if we make a few late changes and rest a couple of guys. If Port wins we will need to go all out to make sure we don’t end up in Adelaide week one.

I would rather play port over there than here. There is a lot more pessure on them over there and MFC should be up for the challenge. Port have played 7 games in Vic this season and won all of them.

Just something to consider.

In: TMAC, May, Viney

Out: Hibbo, Sparrow, Smith

Hibberd was not fanatastic today but I didn't see anything wrong with his game.

If TMac is to come in could it be Melksham out or is it Jordon.

May for Smith and Viney for Sparrow are almost certainties.

As nice as it is to win the match against Geelong - I'm hoping we manage/rest as many players as possible.

If not for the benefit of the team, but mostly for

the reduction in concern on this forum, and the inevitable extrapolation about what a loss means.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
