Who is they?

Every single person in the media. Well, that’s what it feels like. I haven’t heard/read a single media item wherein the opinion is otherwise.

BEST:

Geelong: Menegola, Dangerfield, Blicavs, C.Guthrie, Higgins, Selwood.

Ages: 29.5, 31.4,  30.4, 28.11, 33.5, 33.2

Better  players missing include Tom Stewart (28.5) Zac Tuohy (31.8) and Mitch Duncan (30.2).

BTW Hawkins (33.1), Cameron (28.4) and Smith 32.7)

Little, if any, young talent coming through.

Fremantle kicked 8.2 in the first quarter and 2.0 in two quarters since then.

West Coast played like tripe for the first half but only 17 points behind.

Two very average sides playing this game right now.

And yet, playing like it’s a grand final. West Coast are the biggest form yo-yoers this year. They don’t deserve finals, but then it’s ugly seeing Essendon in the 8 instead. If Eagles do get in, they’re going nowhere without Kelly.

Ch 7 news has just decreed that in their view Hawkins will not be charged.
So, nothing to see here.

Adam Simpson has to in trouble given the pathetic performance this year.

I could see him coaching the Blues or Pies next year

I don't want to see West coast making finals. AFL talking about a final 4 hub in Perth. If they won through to a prelim it would be such an advantage. And i hate their supporters.

Gee wiz even a West Coast fan clapped that!

Don’t believe you.

The Boo factory’s gonna have to work overtime to get them home.

Are Nichols and Margets on the field - maybe a late call up?

But if finals are in WA it’s much better to not have WC in finals with their insufferable fans and the rigged umpiring.

Ripper contest this Derby, umpiring is pretty good except for that boundary boo boo.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
