We brought in Jordon for TMac given the wet conditions though, and the forecast I've seen for the G on Sunday is absolutely perfect. Personally, would have gone back to the 2 key forwards and brought out Jordon or Sparrow.

True. I reckon LJ, Brown, Fritsch and Melk is tall enough. When T Mac comes back in, it might be at the expense of melksham. Who knows

Like others I thought the Weid was the way to go. Fine weather, no pressure in terms of ladder position the Weid could have played with more freedom and perhaps found some form. I think he has a lot of upside compared to other options for a spot in the side. I concede he hasn’t looked like producing the level of performance we need from him all season. Selection has been spot on all year so I trust the FD know what they are doing.

I would have thought Weid would have been an in when Goody said yesterday he would've played in Perth if weather was dry. I thought his vfl form playing a high forward role had been good. Much better suited in that role than close to goal. My only thought could be Jackson's form last two weeks has kept him out as it would've been good to give him a game this week in case needed to cover injuries in the finals and also with two games back to back six days break leading up to the Geelong game could've rested someone.

I am not surprised by only the Hunt/Hibberd change. Brown and Jackson played their best games last week and our ground pressure was quality. I dont think you can play Fritsch. Melksham and Weid who pressure is not the highest quality.

They must be very confident Tmac will be right to go next week and in finals. Otherwise they’d bring in Weid to get ready in case.

I really would’ve liked Weid to come in for this game, very little pressure to perform, it could’ve been just the tonic. Will be very interesting to see if he sticks around.

I'm not surprised that Weid is out they went small last week and won why change it? The sub will be interesting they usually don't go with the same sub 2 weeks in a row so that rules out Vanders and Weid isn't a sub so it's out of Bedford and J.Smith my bet would be J.Smith considering they just gave him a contract.

AVB will be the medi sub.

Got to say, at this point, I'm a fan of how the club has done a Claytons job at managing Hibbo and Jimmy Jordon.  I think it should work out almost perfectly.

In particular, it should be good to have Hibbo cheery rip for finals and blooding Bowey looks set to pay dividends with Hunty missing for a reasonable period.

All the above particularly since they are talking above removing the pre finals bye.

Weid would have been a nice inclusion, but I just couldn't find a spot for him.
We'd have to drop either

A mid rotation - but fatigue coming back from Perth and and a running Crows team a concern,

A pressure fwd - see above,

Melk or Fritta - both deserve their spot.

I wonder if Melk can display enough intensity this week to take Spargo's spot going fwd. Ie. match Spargo for pressure and link up but add to our fwd 50 polish.

Agree with this, for all his defensive pressure Spargo simply does not do enough!

IMO of the interchange bench, the final four would be Jackson, Hibbo, Jordon, Weiderman. Sparrow sub.

I can picture a scenario where Weid doesn't come in, we could play a variation of Gawn/Jacko in the forward line more and make Melksham a link man. It could be a way to experiment should an in game situation arise where we lose Tommy to injury.

But personally I feel like we are a structure team, and playing Weid gives us the chance to keep that structure. Interestingly Brown's mobility (while not fast) has actually been quite good, he's been getting up the ground quite well and even taking some very valuable marks on the wing. The option could be for him to play a bit more of the TMac role and Weid be the one pushing harder towards goal.

exactly Pates

BB was terrific up the ground last week and competed really well

Weid to start and stay inside 25 all game

Not sure which Crows will turn up. The team that beat us and the Cats and even the Hawks a few weeks back, or the team that kicked only two goals again the Bombers.

I have a feeling if you shut down Laird, Seedsman an Schoenberg they don't have much else.

With that said in the AFL you only need to be 10 percent off and you can get rolled easily.

I’ll be quite content with a W, and no injuries.

20 games for 225 possesions avg 11.25 and 11 goals...avg .6 goals a game. As a Forward! Are you happy with that?

Bottom 4 team. Our achilles heal. Crows a definite chance but with Top 4 secured, the pressure is off us so i expect a 25 point win

It says to me our preferred line up is  a 3 tall line up with TMac, Brown and LJ our second preferred in a 2 tall line up with a Melksham or an extra runner.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
