Finals 2021

Featured Replies

Just want to check we have actually made the finals this yr?????

Don't want to get ahead of myself!!!!!!!!

Cannot miss out on a top four place. But can we now relax?

Reminds me of 1964. Secured top place after r.17 and then got smashed by doggies in r.18 when it didn't count.

Good outcome nevertheless.

Funny way to present the percentages. It's really a domino-effect where if Melbourne plays Geelong then Dogs will play Port.

It's basically 50/50 that the entire top four will have replays, with the only other factor being if one of them loses BOTH remaining games AND one of the Lions or Swans win both of theirs.

The top four could actually be locked in for replays by the end of this round because when Melbourne and Geelong play obviously one goes up and the other goes down, resulting in either a 1st/4th or 3rd/2nd split.

Would be funny to go into that final round game already knowing that we'd be playing the next game as well.

Just indulging in some even sillier speculation; we could conceivable play Geelong in the final round, the first round of finals, and then in the Grand final again.

If nothing else, surely that would earn us the right to not have to meet them in 2022. There's only so much Geelong anyone can be expected to put up with.

We have not won this many games since 1958. We have been this high at the end of the season since 1964. This is our best season I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. This is our time

So let’s take it one week at a time and smash those Crows this weekend.

Hey I'm playing 3D chess here and am already formulating our plan for the 2022 Marsh Community Series. A loss in one or both would be catastrophic. They'll probably send us to Broome or Cape York. Damn the AFL.

If we lose this weekend Marsh Community Series 2022 will be the Suns away in Wuhan, (and we’ll only be allowed to fly in on game day).

If we ended up playing Geelong in the GF, I'm confident we won't be playing at Kardinia Park/GMHBA Stadium in 2022. The AFL will want any game between us played at the MCG. Especially if full size crowds (remember them?) are allowed.

Glad we now know via direct experience as a team that we can win there... (as we have done a few times over the last 5 years).

We wouldnt be faves.

Definitely not. If all Top 4 teams win this week and then we lose to Cats and Port beats Dogs we play Port in Port.

Would not bother me in the slightest.

Possibly the most bizarre yet funnily possible post of the year.

I’m not against a Perth hub per se.

However, if the Eagles make September, I have reservations. They’re at least a four goal better side there.

I think every club should be hoping the Eagles don't make finals. we can't have their entitled, idiotic supporters spoiling finals with their moronic booing

Maybe now only  2 goals with the retirement of Margetts.  🙄

But if they are getting done over they could always call on the ️

I've got a grand final guarantee so would be mortified to have the game played in Perth if we made it that far. We'd have to quarantine for 2 weeks and face extortionate flight prices. Who the hell can afford to take 2 weeks off work in this economic climate? If it definitely can't be played here I'd prefer Adelaide where fans of each side can at least drive there in nine hours and not be captive to price gouging airlines. If the ground holds 10k less than Optus they can add 16% to the cost of the tickets to make up the shortfall in revenue.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
