Reports are there will be a double header at Marvel with one have starting at 1pm the other in the evening. Surely with our day out on a plane and such on the tarmac we should get the late game

Passengers on board during refuelling CAO 20.9 (4.2)

The aircraft operator must ensure that AVGAS is not loaded onto an aircraft while passengers are on board, or entering or leaving, the aircraft.

https://vfrg.casa.gov.au/general/pilot-responsibilities/refuelling/

Passenger aircraft can be refuelled(not AVGAS) whilst boarding or with passengers on board as long as the No Smoking sign is illuminated(always on) and the Seat belt sign is switched off. Crew cannot venture more than 4 seat rows from Emergency exit doors.

Oskar Baker is horrifically bad by foot

Last year the essendon game led to us playing 2 games in cairns under a week in monsoon . This game  who knows  when we play and the implications

I think WA will shoot themselves for n the foot with compulsory quarantine making too hard for AFL games to be played there in the remaining rounds, considering what’s just happened today.

So a Melbourne / Adelaide hub seems like the best option .

You would think so. But it’s the AFL so anything can happen.
The MCG is also available tomorrow. Could have two late starts to accommodate everyone who had to spend the day flying

Been watching him today and previously. Will be gone at season end.

I believe this is a blessing in disguise. Flying to GC and playing them at their home ground on the same day is the worst possible preparation for a game. They are in good form and no doubt would have exploited this. Looking forward to play them over here tomorrow or later on.

Confirmed 12:10pm tomorrow against Gold Coast

A bit disappointed with Ticketek today.

Tickets were delivered by sms, surely they could have sent out another sms to let people know the game wasn't going ahead, but nothing.

Must say though that Ticketek's online ticketing user interface is tones better than Ticket Master - they are the worst.

I would hardly call wasting nearly a whole day travelling good preparation

The AFL should bring all clubs to Victoria and set up hubs like Qld last year. How can they possibly risk another occurrence of what happened today? We know the WA government can shut things down at the drop of a hat, and now Queensland too. Play the rest of the games and all finals in Victoria. We have the grounds, MCG, Marvel, GMHBA, even Ballarat. We have our COVID situation seemingly under control. Make it easy for yourselves AFL, and stop trying to appease vested interests. The game today should have been at Marvel all along, it was a no brainer.

This is why WA doesn’t deserve a grand final.

They’ve made it so hard on the AFL and it’s clubs during this pandemic .

Your dumbest post ever.

They now can get a good nights sleep and a leg stretch and play them at a happy hunting ground for us.

Queensland Chief Health Officer has just announced that the game will be stopped at 4.00 pm and whoever is in front at that time will be awarded the points

Marvel.

Looks like we are going to Perth too as they are playing us early to get away.

Yes I would prefer this game at marvel rather than G.

Took me 12 months to get last years Queens Birthday game refunded Deev.

Ok plans changed so I can still watch the game.
If they change it again I give up.
Marvel. Closed roof I assume. Let’s go Ben for 10 straight!

Is this a good preparation? Absolutely not. But is it better that the boys will have a good nights sleep and be able to play on a track they know a little more than GC? Absolutely.

More proof that we need to adapt to the changing situations at every turn.

Can’t believe we went up to GC and back without the 4 points.

Pretty happy we got out of QLD with no injuries though before finals.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
