But that would make him 136cm, or a bit under four foot six in the old money.

That's much too short to be an AFL player, no matter how good he might be.

Comedy gold right there Demonstone. Bout time some lightened the mood of Demonland.

Can somebody advise me on something?

Whenever the subject of replacing a defender arises - in this case the potential of resting Hibberd - why is Lockhart barely ever mentioned? He’s been in our best-on-ground lists two of the last three rounds. Even the write-up of last week’s Casey game on the MFC website goes into great detail, yet never mentions his name once. Except to say he was second-best on ground in the stats.

Bloody good point - he's out of favour here on Demonland, but is that the reality for the FD?

The running joke is (insert name) must have parked In Goodwin’s spot. I can only assume his spot was free because Lockhart stole the car and set it on fire in the middle of Casey Fields.

Not totally sure, but my guess would be that he's perceived as more of a pure small lockdown defender and our defensive setup this year seems to require more rebounding small defenders.

I heard that he's having trouble with his weight from overeating and is now nicknamed Lockhart Gorge.

Not saying I necessarily believe that scuttlebutt.  :D

Interesting. It’s strange to me that a player who’s in form would be overlooked for such a thing, given the amount of general overlap in lockdown/rebounding. Lockhart has good skills and is a reliable kick, so it’s odd to me that he couldn’t be viewed playing a rebounding role when the need arises.

He does spend a fair amount of time playing video games. Often that pursuit is paired well with high calorie snacks.

But he looks in pretty good shape. The only extra weight he seems to be carrying is a moustache.

Personally I think we should be looking to add a more specific lockdown small into the backline mix before finals. It's gradually becoming more and more of a concern how easily we're scored against once the ball is on the deck inside defensive 50.

Lockhart has some strengths that we are lacking. Speed and defensive pressure when ball hits the ground in the backline.

He is prone to a few mulligans each game though.

Surely Hibbo instead

Bowey for Hibbo, Sparrow for Jordon.

Too many fumbles for Hibbo. Glad they kept Rivers in.

Pretty good changes. Might have been useful to bring in Weid for Jacko, if for no other reason than to give Jacko a break - and try a few things before finals. Also happy Rivers will play.

Surprised that Hibbo got the chop, he’s a cool head to have back there usually. Still, good luck to Bowey! We’ve been found out in the small defender department lately so this is the young lads chance to make a place for himself in a team heading towards finals.

Sparrow for Jordon is a good shout.

I also think he's unlucky to miss ahead of Bowey Mel after watching him in a number of Casey games.  Appeared ripe to me

LJ is very much in need of a refresh break that's for sure.  IMHO Max needs one also.

Not going to happen but Daw for one week to cover those two and Melk as the in for LJ up forward wouldn't have hurt against the sons.

Reckon we're going to see some changes in their mix and roles this week.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
