Tigers were atrocious last night. Cotchin took some angry pills with cheap shots all over the field, Pickett was trying to take mark of the year in the backline knocking over his teammates in the process, Balta before his injury was trying to play dry weather football and Dusty looked like he wanted to be on a bean bag in front of the fire.

The Saints were just ok, nothing special but the Richmond performance stunk of arrogance.

Agree. Bad signs for tigers.

Injuries are the biggest, and most underrated, factor in football. The tigers 'system' can only mitigate having so many key players our for so long.

And the tigers depth is rubbish now, with players like Ellis and Higgins having left for coin and opportunity

Hold on a minute.

What's with this whole "injuries are hurting Richmond" thing?

How many best 22 players was Richmond missing when they went into last night's game? By my count, three: Astbury, Lynch and Nankervis.

Most clubs are missing that many or more (I know we're not, but that's not the point here).

They just stank last night. There's no excuse for kicking 2 goals in an entire match. It's abysmal.

Perversely though, I can see this performance sparking a renewed focus from them.

Interesting to see Samson Ryan debut for the Tigers.

Ryan was a project raw player who is as skinny as they come but at a good height at 206cm tall. He's gotten a game based on strong VFL form and also playing intra club games thr past few weeks

Meanwhile we have Austin Bradke who's been on our list for 3 years and shown absolutely SFA and probably close to the worst player I've seen on our list since Brendan Van Shaik.

How do you feel about this post now, @dazzledavey36, after Ryan became the first player in four years to fail to register a single possession on debut?

I reckon park the Austin Bradtke hate.

Richmond look like a tired side. It happens to all sides who have been up and about. So Richmond it is now time to say to thanks for the memories but you can now go and get stuffed. You owe us 54 years rent for denigrating the MCG as your home ground so pay up or pizz of to Punt Road.

This by 100.

That was big for Fremantle's finals chances. They have Carlton and Hawthorn as their next two, which could get them to 9-7.

But they then have a five match stretch of Geelong, Sydney, Richmond, Brisbane and West Coast.

Even if they win Round 23 vs St Kilda, with their relatively poor percentage they're going to have to go 3-2 through that run. Only Sydney is away from Perth though.

Point is, they are going to be going hard against Geelong, Richmond, Brisbane and West Coast, and if they're a serious contender, that can only be good news for us.

So disappointing to lose to Pies. They were always chasing in the Freo game. Just have to put Bombers away

The Buckley situation plus Darcy Moore I think makes them a very different side this week compared to Queen's Birthday.

If they can win their next 2 before that 5 game stretch and get some real confidence, it’ll be good if they can upset one of Geelong, Brisbane or West Coast as I think we have the toughest run home out of the top 4 sides.

Watching the Port game, I’m getting the feeling that we are getting a preview of what we can expect in terms of umpiring decisions the week after next… not particularly good so far.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
