Totally different players with different requirements for their positions.ie forwards need good delivery.

Spot on and the only good delivery forwards got today was from our experienced miss like AVDB, Melksham and Jones

A convincing win by a side that hasn’t played for 5 weeks is much more than an ordinary win. A foolish post.

as quoted earlier a heap of afl listed players against a team of youngsters ,afl players train to be ready for a call up to the ones so 5 weeks off does not mean a thing

Any post that starts with these words, regardless of what follows these words, should be given a big fat miss.

An absolute second half goalfest. LoLo may be a stylish way to get your lockdown home delivery but the floating rear suspension is so passé. Pump up your shocks!

Enjoyed the Browns' contributions, Mitch unfortunately out with an inopportune injury, Ben showing something up forward and Campbell would be a major improvement in the big league. Talks common sense with more than a hint of authority.

Plenty to like about  from the guys that played, both veterans and rookies. Is Aaron Vandenberg a chance of a recall at some stage? Body and Soul player at his best.

He might be a good option high half forward manning a crafty hb type.  Will rotate through the middle.  Think he is back in the queue behind Jones.

Essendon had 13 AFL listed players out there. 3 or 4 of our old boys excepted and I doubt they were any younger. Still, you’ve got an angry agenda, so whatever.

didn't think I'd say it...but in the heat of September there might be a role for the body player like Vandenberg.

Very good game today

Bradtke down back was interesting. Didn't do too much but didn't make any mistakes.

Cannot see any candidate to replace Hibberd next year if needed. May need to trade for that player.

Baker is becoming good at this level.

Maynard?

What would have been a pass mark? Like specifically what did you want to see from him?

He was a big reason we got to the Prelim in 2018… was brought back into the team around finals time, and performed brilliantly.

31 pressure acts

Jones doesn't have the legs to cover the ground and fill that gap

Spot on. It's not a like for like.

As well as covering the ground, much of the value of those small guys is to get a hand in here and there to disrupt play. It requires reflexes/quickness.

ANB is doing this consistently, even when he's having an off game.

Jones is probably relying on someone to go down to get a game.

perhaps what forward should do,lead, mark and kick goal .Its very simple if he wasnt gifted goals today by his team mates he might have had very bad day

All KP forwards get gifted goals it is called team work. You also have to be there in the right spots. He had a good game and is a proven top level forward who had not played for a month. Good effort IMO.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
