Yeah he’s a dud off the field if the reports are accurate.

The reports are very accurate. Caused an awful lot of trouble within the club last year.

Dogs probably deserved it, I thought. If we can get a solid, functioning forward line, we can take any one.

The Cats (including their coach) must be the most irritating bunch of bankers around. Wouldn't give you the steam off their [censored] those blokes. Apart from Tom Stewart - he's a gun and seems like a good bloke.

Geez I'm flat after that. Cats are insufferable.

Shades of our 2018 game down in Geelong  when we couldn’t hold on in the dying seconds.

Anyone who continues to bag Gary Rohan has no idea. He’s a far better player than given credit for.

Micro moments that the Dogs will hate re-watching, like our game too.

They had the ball in their forward 50 with a minute to go but couldn’t force it over the line. Didn’t get to the ball on the clearance, allowing Selwood to knock if forward. Not sure if Cordy had options for his clearing kick but if he did, his kick didn’t help. And too far up the ground given they needed to defend the lead in the last minute, leaving too much room for the Cats.

Also Bontempelli missing from directly in front early in the last hurts.

EXACTLY like our loss down there a couple years ago. EXACTLY.

Everyone goes on about this game like we didn’t end up ultimately beating them in a final in front of 90,000 people at the MCG that year.

Ok so, we beat Essendon.
Brisbane beat Geelong at the Gabba.
West Coast beat Dogs at Optus.
Normal programming resumes.

Somehow us beating Essendon seems the least likely scenario ?

He's not much of a human

I met him when he was a Swan and came to help with a training session when my son was playing with the Newtown Swans. My impression was that he was a really nice guy who was genuinely enjoying helping the kids improve their game; and he was happy to have a bit of a chat.

Yep I don’t remember the meaningless H&A season game we lost but gees I sure as [censored] remember smashing them at the G in a final. My favourite game of football ever.

THISSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Absolutely. I have said recently that our next 2 games are critical. We just cannot afford to lose games against teams outside the 8. The chasing pack are coming. If we don’t bring our A game next Saturday night we are in serious trouble.

What you said. And coz I hate Essendon so much it hurts.

We've been playing with one hand tied behind our back with Wiedemann. I'm not sure Brown is the answer (he might be). I'd love to see us go back to one permanent tall (McDonald), with Gawn and Jackson rotating in there.

Geelong are the ones to beat

MUST. BEAT. ESSENDON

Yep, if we're going to win a flag, we need to give up the habit of relying on other results.

Geelong are coming REALLY good, and you'd argue they are timing it better than us. Round 22 at the cattery is looming big on the horizon, we've got a lot of footy to play until then but that will be a statement game for both clubs if things keep tracking the way they are.

Clutch goal from Rohan, I have to be honest in saying I'm not sure we have someone I would be as confidently as Rohan. TMac first pick, Petracca because of his kicking penetration and his love of clutch moments, beyond that....

Oh, I wasn’t saying that. I was just amazed from the throw in from defence to the transition through the ground, to a mark that’s then kicked after the siren. It was just eerily similar.

This has not been a goood week. We lose to the filth and a few days later i have to see that cakehole Scott celebrate like an imbecile after they pinch a win they should not have got.

Just hope by rnd 22 our top position is settled

Geelong very good, lots of experience right across the ground. Home and away counts for nothing once finals begin, and can't help but feel that Cats and Richmond will be there when the big boys come out to play.

As unfavourable a result as it was (and it’s only June) if Geelong and Dogs finish 1st and second, I’m more than happy to finish 3rd or 4th and play either of these mobs at the G.

We just need the Lions and West Coast to stay out of the top 2.

Ben brown, Mitch brown, melksham, hunt, Salem, Brayshaw, viney, jones. I’d back any of those guys to kick straight when it counts.

Poor on field leadership by the Dogs. They had done all the hard work and then take an intercept mark on the wing with 1.05 minutes on the clock and….kick up the line to a contest??? Could not believe it. Don’t you find someone sideways or backwards and work it slowly forward to soak up time?

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
