They have been physical enough against the other top sides, Vanders won't come in any time soon, Brayshaw and Petty will also hold their spots.

I wish Melbourne would put in a four quarter performance more often. Can only think of the Dogs game that we actually did that this season….

Does anyone know the forward half defensive pressure stats up to round 6 and then since then?  Brown, then Weidemann came into the side from round 7 and it doesn't look like we have quite the same defensive intent or impact since the introduction of the extra tall.  I'd be tempted to drop Weidemann for Viney and bring back Melksham for Sparrow and see how that looks.  We got three goals out of Jackson and Gawn today, McDonald and Fritsch should be enough as tall targets.

It was coming, we had massive games against lions dogs, top teams have weeks like this, no biggy, will be back at G against bummers in 2 weeks, focus on that not on the loss, bummers are gonna be harder than the filth.

It's entirely understandable that they looked to move the game somewhere where, through ticket sales, we could recoup some money. 

It's not unrealistic, Geelong have been given the option of playing at Kardinia Park in front of no supporters on Friday which they are likely to take. They value the welfare of their players and the 4 points over a few quid.

Darcy Cameron after only 18 games slaughtered our defence with 4 goals and some big marks. That kid is going places unlike Weid.

Why Brayshaw?? He has been good most of the season? Whilst he young and developing, Sparrow’s 4 blunders that resulted in Collingwood goals were far worse mistakes than Brayshaws. Has the awareness of a rock atm, Sparrow.

In the AFL you are always going to have losses and I never get upset when we lose to a better side if we have a crack.  What is frustrating is when you lose games by lack effort.  

We lost today because we thought it was going to be easy and it wasn't.  Our kicking skills are still and underlying issue, ok we are in a great spot but will this be exposed when finals pressure us applied.

I didn’t say more than us, I said ‘everything’ in the context that as individuals they are all playing to avoid some of the blame for ultimately failing their coach. Gus has played a specific role this year and mostly, done it very well.  I had so hoped that the Weed would break out this year, but it would seem, this will sadly not happen.  Gus will be OK, but I hope, collectively, this team will understand that today's effort was nowhere near good enough.  After the bye, we need to seriously come out and smack some [censored].

This was a real regression, however we have a bye to recharge and reset.

We had two very big weeks against two very good oppos so can understand the mental fatigue probably setting in. 

We played on the SCG - where i think we are probably negatively impacted as its a small ground. I dont think we really play good here. We need width and length in a ground to exploit opposition teams

There were two clear howlers from umps that cost us two goals (Cameron & Penlebury) and TMac missed a few sitters. 

It was Buckley's last game so it was expected that Collingwood would play a little more high risk. It was a same style that we lost to Adelaide. High risk, high reward. You cannot really defend it as invite this type of game style hoping to pounce on the turn-over. THey were just kicking it to damn well - its unstainable, but you might win a few games doing it (this was our 2018 brand). 

Now that is all the excuses, we should have smashed them. The Pies were truly awful - we were just more so than usual. The embarrassing thing is that Pies were missing a few and we pretty much fielded a full strength side. 

Our F50 connection was way off today. Cameron and Moore had a field day with the intercept. Maynard was a class above. 

Weid will be dropped and dare say will find it really tough to get another game this year. I think the writing is on the wall now, he just cannot cut it at AFL level.. I would be very surprised if anybody would actually go for him, so he may just wither away in the VFL leagues.

No, I do “get it”. The guy is a massive under achiever. Getting paid truckloads to do what? Remember when his manager touted huge dollars last year? If he is taking the pay cheque, then yeah he needs to be accountable for his performance. There is absolutely nothing I have seen in his career to date to suggest that he will become a regular AFL player. As many have already said here, he is good VFL at best. Then take the pay cheque that goes with that. Hence get another career
