Sorry to all of you doing it tough in lockdown from this horrid disease but I guess the alternative is even worse.  let’s hope it works and ends soon!
I’m Sitting at work in my office in Sydney CBD trying to be a mature 60 year old manager - inside churning and jumping around like a kid about to go on his first date.   Biggest game I’ll have been to since our last Grand final.

If the stereotyping is correct and the titans of industry are primarily Melbourne supporters, then I fear for the economic future of this country. Productivity amongst all Melbourne supporters is likely at an all-time low given the distractions caused by the team actually being good.,

I like being underdogs. It suits us and I think with Neale in and Langdon out it makes sense the betting is in their favour. They are on a 7 game streak. We are on one.

It feels like weeks since we played the dogs.  lockdown/homeschooling days age me considerably

50-50 game for me. The Lions are building over the past few years. They have a fwd that will test us more than any other with McStay, Hipwood, Daniher, Cameron, McCarthy, Bailey. It will be tough for Lever to stay loose

Mcluggage is a gun who I love watching. Aside from being a horrible kick for goal that is. We need to watch him closely

hopefully it is a final type contested game and we see our guns flex their muscles

i reckon we have them covered just and we will win in a cracker by 2 points. The Weed kicking one after the siren. Western Sydney will explode with excitement

Scary

Probably our most difficult game of the year.

Wondering how often we see Charleston Spargod floating back intercepts and 1:1s like last week (how was the one v Bont)....all hands on deck tonight, no passengers "paging all passengers, paging all passengers, you are required on flight deck for imminent collision"

Out of work (sorry to hear that) but with Balvenie on hand - now that is handling business the right way.

Me too.

Just cracked and ate the pie I was saving.

Goodness what's happened with the betting on this match. Melbourne drifted from $1.60 to $2.05.

I think that was Neale being named...

Yes indeedy.

He is a one man game changer and keeps getting better in every quarter.

I always expected Tracca to be the most dominant player but its Clayton by a long way.

Yeah I’d also be worried if we fielded one of those wacky inflatable guys you see out the front of car wash centres.

Nothing to worry about.  Australia's Titans of Industry have been under performing for almost as long as Melbourne. Maybe the mood lift will help them actually get something done!

I remember a phrase Neeld brought up with the way he wanted us to play when he was just appointed. This caused many 'Landers to coo in awe and wonder:
'We want to be the hardest team to play against.'
This statement held up to the moment he finished the sentence, but in reality, what we are doing now is what that looks like. Constant pressure in the forward half, standing up in tackles and disposing correctly under opposition fire, two to three blokes on a tackle, a midfield structure that won't let people get out loose on the outlet, and 1%ers such as getting a hand in to obstruct handballs are now non negotiable.  The trade off is that some of our attacking flair has been compromised on. Hence, scores of 100 plus a week are less common and grinding victories are less prevalent.
If that is the trade off, I am more than happy to see it. Offence fills stadiums, but defense wins premierships.
Tonight will be an interesting one. The Lions mids with Neale back will be a test, but I reckon that the bodies of Oliver and Tracc are stronger. I do worry about Charlie Cameron alas. We no longer have that lockdown type of defender that would shut blokes like him down since the speed of the game has passed Nev by. However, if the structure holds up, I think we can win.
Demons by 3 points.

I don’t know why everyone thinks Hibberd goes on Cameron. I would think Rivers is the better match up – but I guess we’ll find out tonight.

Clayton’s note to self: fend off with my left arm and not, I repeat, NOT my right.

im looking forward to tonight. we have nothing to lose. Last week showed that our best is good enough. Tonight is about showing that we are contenders. We need to focus on: 1) not allowing Brisbane to score in the first 30 seconds after we kick a goal (we seem to switch off as this has been a pattern this year and 2) get off to a good start.
