Baker has not shown anything and does not run as hard devensively, I’d give someone else a go.  Push ANB to the wing and bring in Bedford

Couldn't agree more. Langdon isn't just a foot soldier that does a job on that wing he brings things to the table that almost no-one in the team has and that is his aerobic and anaerobic ability. Big loss, will need to find a way to simplify the role for whoever takes it.

Sparrow in for Melksham's role, Melksham to Langdon's role?

Well I know what I’m doing if I’m Brisbane. Run off Melksham. The man has absolutely no defensive running in him. He can kick a footy, but Jesus he is soft as butter.

Outside of Oliver, I reckon our most important player. This could be dangerous with Brisbane. A massive massive loss.

We have had a number of players off for 1 week like Salem and Jackson.

Could we be low-key resting players in a distributed way under the gause of injury?

Posted

Left field thought but could we move Salem to the wing for a week? He definitely has the tank and works hard both defensively and offensively.

Arguing against myself we need our small defenders at the top of their game next week and Salem is pivotal there... Jetta is past it. How has Lockhart been performing at Casey?

I’m just not a Baker fan. Maybe it’s Jones.

Maybe, but does Melksham have the required tank? I'd like to se him on the wing to find out...otherwise I'd be confident of ANB filling the role...

If Ed is feeling ok to play next weekend shave his head, cover him in tats and call him “Nathan Jones”.

Don't fully get the lack of love for Baker.

Yeah he's no #positivelingers (let's face it other than the man, who is?), but I think he showed good intent and attack on the ball when we played him late last year and again against North.

If his Casey form is decient enough (mind you that's hard to evaluate with the lack of games) if we are not prepared to play him in scenarios such as this, you wouldn't think that fairs well for keeping him on the list.  However I doubt that's the case, since he was promoted for the North game and an advantage of Casey not playing this week is that he'll be pretty fresh as opposed comming off a six day break that Brisbane will be.

Jones in to play the defensive wing tbat Gus has been playing.

Gus to offensive wing

That's robbing Peter to pay Paul 2 potential Losses there on both wings.

1. ANB to one and Angus to  continue his team defensive play on the other.

2. If not then Baker gets a chance.agsin.

3. If we are very brave Rivers to Langers  wing and Lockhart to  mind the Lions smalls.

DONT MOVE Angus he is going fine in his side of the oval.

Interesting that no-one has suggested T-Mac to the wing and Ben Brown forward. What a difference 2 months makes.

No  it doesn't Tommy  i s not a wingman NEVER was and NEVER WILL bE

He played  about 3/5 mins on the wing  to get mobile then went forward in 2018.

How any one thinks he is best in our team on the wing full time  as against a KPF is not watching the game very well.

Gee what rubbish Salem was listed as soreness but we don't really know the real meaning of that.

Jacko did have a real hand  injury and Ed let Sparrow on who I believe is concussed also.

Salo didn't look his usual busy self last night. Doubt he missed for 'general soreness'...

Sparrow concussion too? He was on for all of 1 min?

Huge loss because the reality is we don’t have an adequate replacement.

We’ve seen Baker and chandler this year in cameos but I’d like to see Bedford brought into the side. See if he can step up. He’s done enough at Casey so has earned the right.

I’d try Hunt on the wing. His tank has improved (particularly remember the tandem running he did with Langdon vs the tigers) as has his defensive game.

bring Lockhart in to play defensive on either Bailey or McCarthy. Hibbo for Cameron.

Ed Langdon cannot be replaced like for like. He’s a HUGE loss for us - devastating news from an incredibly impressive win last night.

Baker very unconvincing in the North game…and no chance this weekend to make his claim with the VFL cancelled.

ANB or Hunt on the offensive wing for mine - all have a good tank and have improved their disposals.

Did anyone notice how and when it happened?

Not mentioned in the commentary as far as I recall.

No one has a tank like Langdon, so it's probably likely a couple of players rotate in that role. Gut feel is they'll bring in Baker, but it worries me having him and Gus on the wings, neither are great with the ball atm.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
