Does anyone else get a Michael Long circa 2000 vibe about Marlion Pickett?

Yes constantly sniping, noticed it for a while now.

Three best teams to date are Dees, Doggies and Lions. Beneath them are Port, Cats and Eagles. But we can't write off the Tiges yet. If you want to understand how much a good midfield counts for, look at our centre clearance numbers decrease since Viney has been out. Cotchin, Prestia and Bolton seriously changes their midfield power. And their leaders and elders often step up to drag them across the line. They are failing, but don't write them off yet.

Having said that, Dusty has lost a metre or so of his pace, Hibbo showed how to play him, and now Fagan and co have worked out how to tackle him. Harmes did the same thing. Riewoldt can really turn it on in key moments but rarely plays a full decent game. And most teams who have the right personnel play the Tiges defenders one-on-one and they get showed up. Their team defence is great, but they are not great one-one-one. Notice how Vlastuin and Grimes got exposed by forwards who can really mark the footy.

I like Mathieson better now for getting under Richmonds skin the way he did.

Oh no a 2 hour flight. Toughen up princess, the game in Alice is brilliant

Its not so much the flight. In fact its not that at all.

I think the games great for Nt but I think we we would be more a chance winning playing at the G.

The club has been making noise about turning the Mcg into a place where clubs are fearful to play against us.

So its incongruent to play a G game interstate.

We only get 12 games at the Mcg. The more the better.

Edited by leave it to deever

What is going on with holding the ball and push in the back? Not the slightest correction from the horror of the last 2 weeks with umpires simply not paying blatant free kicks. I LOATHE Carlton but the umpiring looks biased against them.

And Hawthorn are rubbish.

It’s amazing how far Hawthorn have fallen. Well actually not it’s not amazing at all, it was highly predictable.

Frostball is in full flight at the G today.

Hawthorn keep bumpig in to each other. Hope they win though so we can all LOL at carlscum.

we wouldn't get the game at the g tho; it'd be at the docklands, and cost us $2-300k to host there rather than make $500k having it in the alice

plus we've really developed a fantastic community outreach program up there with the santa teresa ground redevelopment and the engagement and connections we have developed

i'm more than happy to stay hosting a high profile game with guaranteed free to air coverage in the alice instead of hosting a game at docklands

Agree with all this.

The other thing i would add is that the aura of invincibility is slipping. teams will now have belief playing the Tiges whereas before they were defeated before the ball was bounced. Psychologically that makes a big difference.

Geez Carlton and Hawthorn are both putrid.

Third quarter was awful Gonz. That Hawthorn forward playing on in the goal square and getting pinged swung the momentum big time.

Gold Coast choked big time. Should have been 3-4 goals up but kept missing

That was hilarious

Dogs doing what a top team should do & thrashing a team well below them.

Treloar off with an ankle injury apparently.

Need Freo to beat Sydney

Dogs putting the Saints to the sword. I wish we could do that. Just once would be nice.

Yes definitely more RUTHLESS than we are.

Dogs are up by 77 at 3 quarter time.     This is what we should have done to the Crows today.  I am [censored] off

Dogs also lost to the Tigers after being 4 goals up and narrowly beat the blues - want to take those results too?!

Ruthless

For those that wanted Ratten to take over from Goody. Good news, he should be available very soon

Gee the dogs are doing a number on the saints like they did to the roos on good friday. 36 scoring shots to 6. May is going to need to lift big time & I fear for petty.

I do fear a little for next week.

The Bont is just a freak

Dogs are ruthless and hungry. Just want to be THE BEST.

3-Bont 2-Macrae 1- Dale.
BONT clearly the best in the league.  Oliver v Bont will be amazing.   Trac could be our midfielder to kick 3-4 goals a week but doesn’t seem to have the absolute hunger

it’s their pace that will worry us, kicking efficiency and run for 2nd and 3rd efforts

WE MUST WIN THE CLEARANCES

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
