Goody looked unconvinced in the presser. I'd say Sam is gonna need to perform very well, very consistently to keep a spot in the team this season other than be necessity through injury...

That’s true Grr-owl, and the same principle applies to most players in our current 22.  Exactly as it should be!

You see the true character of people Mr 56 when they deal with difficult issues ( or on the golf course ) . I do play golf and still surf .

I the same weight as when I played football - 90 kg .

I’m really pleased that Weid will now get his opportunity.  Further, I would love to see us get into a match-winning position somewhere in the second half on Sunday, to afford our coaches an opportunity to try a few different approaches (experiment if you like) to see what things might look like in the longer term.  I just can’t see all of Weid, TMac, BBB and LJ in the same team, without giving up a very significant part of what has got us to 8 zip.

Hey... me too. But 73kg. The same weight since I was 21. This is probably my greatest achievement in life. ?
I just turned 70. My last game was 37 years ago for Murrumbeena.

My playing weight 88kg add 30 years and kilos. Muscle is heavier than fat, take off your dog's age, voila!

There will be times where Brown weid and tmac will share the forward line, I am really excited to see this.

I wonder if there's another lightning fast Pickett/Davey in the 21' draft we can trade our 22' 1st round pick for that could help negate the impact a 3 tall forward line would have on rebound out of defense through speed and pressure.

someone that also can take a high half fwd distributer role off Melksham and Jones who are nearing the end. @Sir Why You Little you are up on draft right? Or anyone else.. ?

Edit: Or another trade target

Would absolutely love for him to kick a bag, I reckon the Melbourne boys massively get around him (in the same way they’ve got around Tommy).

As for what I’m expecting of him, I want to see him clunking marks and providing strong second efforts. I’d like to see him kick a couple of snags.

Good luck Sam!

Last year Weid was getting the best defender. This game, he could be getting the 4th or even 5th best defender.

Speaking of which, if you're an opposition coach and you're trying to decide who Melbourne's most dangerous forward is, who on earth would you pick? On form, it's McDonald. On ability, it's Brown. On danger, it's Kozzie. On marking ability, it's Fritsch. And Weid has the potential to be the best of the lot...

Meanwhile Petracca strolls forward and kicks a match defining goal and the opposition coach is cursing his assistants that his useless defenders left "the most dangerous forward on the ground" loose in the forward line

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
