Chook your dreaming !T MAc was sacked from the backline for very good reasons

My recollection was the TMac wasn’t sacked as a defender, he was moved forward because we lacked tall options and showed he could actually hold the role quite well.

Mark my words Hicky has given Gawn a bath multiple times before and will next week. It’s going to get ugly

T Mac moving down back changed the game amongst other things. Keep him back.

out - Viney Tomlinson Melksham

in - Jones Weideman Sparrow

One bad half and they are up and about...

Hopefully a win next week and they can scatter back into the woodpile...

must be like Jackson who i said is a good 0layer but simply not a natural forward. people were saying he is close to kicking a bag etc. surely people can see im right now?  most of his goals have been from ground balls so far.

Everyone loves you Doc. We all see you are right. Well done!

Melksham won't be dropped.

Out: Tomlinson, Baker

In: Weid, Harmes/Sparrow

Not that Baker played horribly he just wasn't the right type to cover the Viney loss.

Tmac looked great back so hopefully he can slot in there.

Pretty sure that hasn’t happened since 2016

Haha yep. The crazies are in waiting.
good lord

You play one bad game and win by 5 goals to go top of the ladder and all the crazies are out of their boxes yelling at the sky.

Can I bring up that Kozzie Pickett thread from last year?

Got that ready to go if you're not wanting to be embarrassed once again.

On Viney, he had a hot spot on a big toe.

Possibly not as bad as a hot spot in his troublesome foot area.

Out:

Fritta, good chance he is suspended. Heavy hits to the head need to be stamped out, even if unintentional. His eyes did look at the opponent. Will be missed, as he is the forward most likely at the moment.

Tomlinson

Baker, good depth player. Needs a bit more, team first stuff, and to fix up his lobed/slow kicks.

In:

Weids, big boots to fill with Fritta possibly out. Hoping he and BBB click.

Sparrow, need the big body, in, under and around to replace Viney's efforts.

Petty, knows the backline system better than Tmac.

Jones to be the medical sub again. Knows what is needed when/if, he comes on.

Whoever we bring in to replace Tomlinson, we are going to miss the flexibility he gave us by basically never coming off. Prior to today he averaged 98% time on ground. Ed Langon as a comparison is 93%.

Leans me towards wanting to try Tmac (90%) down back so as to not disrupt rotations through the rest of the team too much.

Petty as an FYI is at around the 75% mark

It's ok 'o'...then Jackson will give Hickey a bath.

Jackson was key to our resurgence in the 2nd half, we're not a one trick pony.

The Kozzie Pickett one I started saying we should draft him before most of DL even knew who he was? Here is the link ->

Weed for Thommo

Harmes for Melksham

Chandler for Jones

Bedford for Baker

Drop Jones?? I thought when going was tough he was one that showed composure and held things together. He stays for mine!

Fritta will get a week. The media witch hunt has already begun. Unlike the accidental elbow Hawkins delivered, which was universally excused.

That David King is a mofo. " Fritsch he has to go you, can't raise your elbow and make deliberate contact to the head".

What a [censored] peanut.

Tmac back

Yep agree but even another possibility, one of either Bowey, Bedford might also get a gig

You'd suspect Sparrow would have come in for Viney if his injury was known Thursday. The most like for like IMO.

So out Baker, in Sparrow. Toughness is a must given the swans mids.

Out Tomlinson, in Petty. It's his time.

TMac was only one wayward kick away out of defence today for the sentiment to be entirely different haha.

Is Viney out for an extended period?

At least two to three weeks according to the club via the Fox commentary today.

I suspect we'll have to manage his loads for the rest of the year.

That helps in terms of a possible punishment.

Do you think it was a reportable incident?

No way. The North player was falling into Fritta and led with his head. If he was upright then the fend off was at chest height. I reckon he has nothing to answer for.

Yep, but you can swing your elbow back in an unnatural action when being tackled and hit a 6 foot 6 bloke and brake his eye socket

Only if you're a superstar ?

Am I the only one that thought Baker was ok today.  I'd give him a block of 3 or 4 games.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
