Bathwater on tap. Until the attitude to work and work no matter who the opposition is arrives it will be the same old crap. Had we just avoided conceding those last two I'd have said we got out of jail but they will have the head of steam up now. So many players having shockers, even May is deciding to easily go to ground all of a sudden.

You've given them a massive sniff and they look desperate for a win. Anyone thinking they'll just fall away and we'll canter in the way we're playing is kidding themselves.

Ed Langdon the only player who can feel proud of his efforts. The rest are embarrassing in their lack of effort.

Why can’t Melbourne supporters ever just enjoy anything? Why must we constantly live in fear knowing we are about to drop our bundle?

Just incredible that Melksham was named in the team.

Chandler, Sparrow and Bedford must be shaking their heads.

Well at least it should be obvious to even Goodwin now, so hopefully this is the last we see of him

We have enough talent on the park. It’s just effort. Midfield and forwards not working hard enough.

Baker is not AFL standard.

Melksham awful.

Gawn has been dominated by Goldstein.

Oliver and Trac need to get a hold of the midfield.

McDonald missing.

North not missing a kick.

North not missing a kick as they have numbers around the ball and waltzing straight through the corridor. Can’t believe our lack of pressure on the ball carriers. Max having a shocker seems to have an effect on everyone. May looks shaky, TMac absent many others ball watching. Oliver and Tracc need to take control in the second half. Jonesy has been good.

Fritsch will get a couple of weeks for that elbow as well

Was really looking forward to winning this and bring on top. Now I’ve just accepted that we will lose and I’m just praying that it’s not a smashing

You and me both.

My North-supporting mate put $100 on them at 14:1. Not looking like a bad investment right now...

we basically beat Richmond for no reason. completely makes the win meaningless.

we were due to be a bit flat    but a good team will pick up in the second half and win      Are we the real deal ?  Next  1hour will tell.

I know you cannot win every week but the bottom side.  Jesus !!!!!

What is it about bloody hobart.

LIFT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a few issues.

Ziebell, Cunnington, Hall and Simpkin dominating.

Forward line structure is kapot.

Midfield with exception of Langdon and Petracca thrashed.

Leadership is non-existent. That includes Gawn, May, etc.

Kids: Rivers, Jackson struggling.

Did we catch covid ? instead of Norf?

We will know if we are in this 5 minutes into the quarter.

Utterly smashed in all areas of the game by the worst team since the demons of the Neeld era.

It's people like you that are the problem. 'I still think we'll win'. Its a mindset like that that put us in this position to begin with. No idea which game you're watching but we're getting hammered all over the park.

.Yes, my post on Demonland is the problem. Clearly.

My view is based on North’s history. If we don’t run over the top of them in the second half then it will go against the grain of every game they’ve played this year. We’re a better side. We need to lift the work rate.

No need to respond. I don’t take anything you say seriously and this is no exception.

Passengers everywhere, pick up your man at least.

Get some clearances.

Get the ball.

Find some space, too much straight kicking, need the angles.

C'mon Dees.

They are out working us, pure and simple. Every time it hits the deck they are outnumbering us. They have been able to get heaps of uncontested possessions, just like teams traditionally have against us. They aren’t going anywhere, and this is going to be a massive scrap to try and get out of here with the points. So filthy.

They have mentally not turned up bar a few.

If they turn this around and win it will actually be quite a miracle at this stage.

How SG feels Melk (anywhere other than a part time foil off the bench for Fritta resting)/Baker are ahead of Sparrow/Chandler is perplexing.

First fix....get the ball.  Second is to maintain possession until the scoreboard levels out.  Then go from there

fumble fumble fumble

when we score we look good. but North's spacing and ability to clear from a stoppage is very concerning.

Its bizarre.

Its just the same rubbish as last year....when we lost two games that kept us out of finals.

We are just mentally soft at times.

Also poor selection.

Jake Melksham has been poor for three years but the worse he gets...the more he is given games.

Baker....really?

Vineys foot issue is really hurting us again and needs to be addressed.

But again half the team is simply asleep.

Why does this just keep happening?

Shame on us for being confident of a big win.

We are just all dumb supporters.

Do the players drink on the plane?

Just relax goody its only the bottom team.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
