First on the ladder for two weeks in 2005. Rounds 2 and 3.

In 2004 we were first after 18 rounds. The deepest in a season that we'd been first since 1964. All the talk was about us. I think we were briefly flag favourites. Then Adelaide pumped us by 12 goals. We lost 4 in a row to end the season and were knocked out in the finals by Essendon. The most Melbourne way to end a season ever.

We have the premiership in the bag. Just sit back and enjoy. The Bulldogs couldn't even beat a Dustyless Tigers when we beat them convincingly.

So if we bring the same pressure we bought last week to the dogs game we should be able to win. 2 goals was all they kicked in that 2nd half. They absolutely crumbled.

One week is a long time in footy...let alone 4.2!

Me and my entire generation of fellow Melbourne supporters are probably more scarred by that month of football than any other in our lifetimes. I know I was for a long time. This year might wipe it away.

Dogs midfield is amazing but not sure how far they will go with their KPP.

Amazing midfields won't win you finals. Their defence is make shift no presents whatsoever.

Forward line is non functional, they are weak they are an outside running, bruise free, indoor sports type operation.

Doggies should be booking the Hotham chalets because, boy have they got some downhill skiers in that team. Daniel McCrea, Bruce Schacke, Treloar - put them under pressure and out come the poles

Nearly forgot Smith. Bet Naughton doesn’t get a clear run at the ball against us either.

Yep i recall going to the match where we got there at the G with a crazy Demon supporter from my kids school (a rare random Demon supporter at that point).

Was it against the Blues?  I know i was sitting up the top of southern stand flank and seem to recall  Neita went alright.  Random Demon friend literally cried in disbelief after the final siren and the AFL ladder went up on the big screen.

Then i cried every week for the next 5!

How bout that AAMI ad, did they show it during the ad breaks?

Sure did.  Would you believe they also showed the one with Cotchin and put it in a small screen as the live coverage was showing Cotchin also during the quarter time break!  Ground breaking stuff from AAMI & 7 ?

I barely noticed Hannan.

Wasn't watching every moment but i didn't notice him at all till about 5 minutes in to the third.  Was he sub?  Appeared to miss the first half but might have been super quiet also.

How are there that many people on this website with such a poor comprehension of basic maths!? Of course we bloody go to the top if we win or draw!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
