Smokey there is no chance either Brown or the Weird will come in. Both played 2 quarters on Saturday. That is their grand match play for the year and Weid hardly got a touch.

fair enough, i didnt actually look at any match reports and went off a comment i heard somewhere about them both going well at casey.

just petty for may then, leave the rest. unnecessary changes to a winning formula is asking for trouble, especially coming into a game with a lesser hawks off the back of beating geelong.

I initially had thought that, but I also did think he competed at contests to bring the ball to ground when marking the ball just wasn't going to happen. But he actually did take quite a few marks and played a connector role rather that a forward kicking goals. I think his output needs to be better but 2 good games, one more last week, and one ok-ish today. I think he keeps his spot for next week.

Any word on whether we're going to bring BBB straight in after one Casey match?

Was better than first thought, ended up taking 9 marks and got his hands on heaps of others. If he wasn't marking it, he made sure it came to ground for the smalls. Much better than last week.

Been thinking, there must be some niggles (injuries) occurring. We cannot be that lucky. Rest for those who carry something or need management.

Give some young players a go when there is less pressure to perform, anymore than doing a role.

Lockhart, Bedford, Bowey, Laurie, Chandler, D. Smith, not sure about Baker (good time to find out).

No one has mentioned Hore. How is he travelling?

Petty is listed as a forward on the MFC website. Does anyone know where he has been playing in those VFL practice matches?

Hore would probably be in for Jetta if not injured.

I hear what you are saying but for me its foot to the throat time.

Keep ploughing onwards.

Kinda glad Petty gets a chance. Can't replace AA FB, but I'm bullish on Petty. He deserves to be playing AFL now and in time, I think he'll become a very good key back himself.

Glad we got him on contract until end 22, hope he signs longer.

So, we'll get a good look at him.

I think Petty (replacing May) is a lock. The only other change that might occur is Hibbard who was BOG last Saturday maybe at the expense of Jetta. ?

Melksham will play and will also lift next week. He’s literally the only guy in the team who walked off with a cloud of doubt lingering over him. He’ll be feeling that scrutiny, and will know it’s put in or get out. Could be a hard team to get back into, as well.

He was that way all last season Mel what will change next weekend?

I’m not disagreeing that Petty isn’t a lock, but I hope they give both him and Daw a good workout this week, if not just to get them both as hungry as possible.

Hawthorn will be a good dress rehearsal for the Tiges

Anybody know how long Jay Lockhart has to rest, following that frankly horrific injury he copped in the pre-season?

True. I guess the one main difference is the focus on him now. Everyone around him has lifted, and suddenly it seems he’s playing for his career. I doubt it felt that way to him last year. He won’t have much time to prove himself, though.

Didnt Lockhart play for Casey on the weekend?

I believe so.

Was thinking the same, but just watched the first half again and Jetts is our lockdown one on one man where Hibbo is the gun runner...... Might be an error to swap one for the other unless a change of strategy is required???

Since when would Hore be in ahead of Hibbo ? Maybe a small like Locky even?
Hore is difficult to place IMO as he is not a KP or great on a small.
About a Fritta or Melksham size really best.
Melksham will get another game this week but very lucky to Did nothing !!!!

BTW Hore is out for season with ACL.

Out -  May, Melksham. Jetta

In -  Petty, Bedford, Hibberd

Sparrow, Jordon, Jones, Spargo could easily be dropped too.

Hey mate, we won and we’re 4-0. It’s not a dream, I know it’s hard to believe. There’s no way there was 6 droppable players.

Out: May

In: Petty

I think there is fair conversation to be had about Jetta, and am also combining this as being a more serious and problematic issue for our selectors to solve than what a lot on here seem to think.

Day is a definite, no argument, so that is/should be at least two changes, and depending, like it should be in every game, any match up worries, quite possibly a couple more.

You’re kidding aren’t you? Spargo has been brilliant this year.

I’m with ya! Some Supporters must be watching another game to us

May Jones out

Petty Bedford in

Petty or Hibberd for May. Otherwise, no change!

May’s likely opponent Mitch Lewis out suspended. Lessens the blow for us a bit.

Can’t see BB being risked yet. Needs more match time in VFL.

More likely Hibberd comes in - leaving Tomlinson to handle the talls?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
