“Melbourne all over us, we can’t seem to move the ball at all, delivery into forward 50 very poor.”

“MAXXXYYYYYY.

What a star.” (not referring to our Max)

“Nice kick King. Melbourne should be a few more up, umps got us back into it with a few frees to King.

Our running game is non existent, gotta figure out how to get it going in the 2nd quarter.”

“We had them on toast and let the pressure off by lairising, turning the ball over ... Brad Hill... are you serious?”

“Who's playing on fritch ?” (posted three times)

“Clark has been abducted by aliens and replaced with a zombie clone.”

“Lucky Melbourne can't kick straight or we'd be getting belted.”

“Imagine picking McCartin over Petracca?

“Clearly we were out played not by umpires calls they were just too good on he night & I agree they should have won by a lot more . we need to get better”

Saints touted as a top four prospect but were lucky to beat the Giants and were dreadful yesterday. This is what their fans were really thinking ~

These are relatively sedate comments. I expected much more vitriol from the feral saints supporters.

A large proportion of illiterates among their supporters may be the explanation.

I like this one in particular -

“That was [censored] poor.

Melbourne looked like Richmond in their golden era”

That one never gets old, we have rarely had a pick selection go out way like this so it’s fun to dine out on it!

Imagine every club not wanting him when he was on the market.

I don’t think anyone could afford him at the time let alone a broke MFC.

Didn’t the Saints make a big play for him? He flew to NZ to discuss the options with his cuddly dad if I recall.

It does not alter the fact we did not even interview him when we took Trengove and Scully. That turned out well.

That has been discussed to death as has the reasons why.

They knew who they were going to take, and every club would have done the same. Richmond would have taken Trenners over Dusty if we had not taken him. That's it.

You don’t know that, it is what you want to believe. Fact it is at that time our FD was poor.

I do know that and that is all. You can keep on talking to yourself if you wish.

That is right, it doesn't appear they have much else to say.

This was definitely not the St Kilda fl*g who was sitting behind me at the game. Blaming the umpires (and us) for everything going wrong. Although to be fair I probably sounded like this in 2013.

There was a dramatic shift in the vibe of the room pre-game to post game that's for sure.

Going from "how are we going to fit Crouch and Hannebery into this awesome side" to "how are we going to replace the 10 players that need to be dropped after that performance"

I thought Ratten was pretty honest saying the Saints made a lot of forced and unforced errors on 360. Those unforced errors put team mates in terrible positions and lead to huge swings. We know that as much as anyone.

The question we don’t know is whether our pressure caused the forced errors and the unforced errors by creating a perceived pressure on every kicker.

The other thing Ratten said was Pickett changed the momentum of the game and then pretty much said the second half was a holding pattern. I hope we don’t have to rely on it but it’s nice to have both game changing talent and also a structure that makes it hard for teams to find easy answers.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
