Like many on this site Trent Rivers grabbed our eye from his first game, who is that kid said my wife, he looked like he was comfortable being out on the ground and at 188cm he is a good size for the half back flank. We are so glad that he was nominated for his great game against the Bullies he really earned it.
Congratulations Trent Rivers so glad we got you to our mighty club and Wow all three of our 2019 recruits are now Rising ️ ‘a has that even happened before.

Go Dee’s and thanks again JT...!!!!!

I made a prediction when we recruited this player and not Hayden Young that Trent might just be a better player and will turnout to be a very good player.

So far my prediction is okay looking at Hayden Young and Trent Rivers stats and games played.

Early days yet Durango but you are in the money.

Trent has looked a ready made half back since about the fifth minute of his first game in the first quarter vs Carlton in 2020.

Really came of age  when he starred vs GWS and kicked his first goals ( second one  left foot jag  a match winner ) in Round  17 last year.

And the real upside we got him at Pick 32 and Young was in the first dozen.

I just have a sneaky suspicion he is future Captaincy material for our Club.

Fine young footballer and humble knowledgeable human being to boot.

He's so solid, self assured and steady that I don't even think of him as a 'young' player anymore.
He has all the attributes to make him a very, very good player for many years to come.

Prediction time: Current captain Max Gawn. Next captain Christian Petracca (Lever a possibility.) Captain after him: Trent Rivers. Half backs make great leaders.

All the posters on this site are passionate about the club. And despite the stereotypes, Dees supporters are a passionate mob.

Many of us are experiencing something new and different this season.

Its a new found belief and confidence in the club and the players. You can see it with the players. There is a new found alchemy within the team. A realisation that we have a group of great players and some young kids who will be great.

Something special is a foot. We will lose games and we may not take the ultimate prize this year. You need a lot of luck and at any time that luck can go missing. Injuries, form, suspension, umpires.

Irrespective, we have a team worth watching. We want to go to the games, we want to watch the games on TV. Hey, do you believe this old team of ours is in control of the game. They may be well paid but they are playing for more than money. They want to experience success and feel proud of their team, and they want to give back to supporters. They really care.

So soak it up and enjoy every minute. It will not last for ever so enjoy the present. And be generous in our praise. And let’s avoid harsh criticism and scapegoating individual players. These young men are under enormous pressure to perform. They cannot all be champions but you can tell that they are giving it their best shot.

They are playing like Demons. However, the whole club needs a big pat on the back. We are starting to behave like a successful club on and off the field.

Let’s all enjoy the ride wherever it takes us.

We no longer have a winter of discontent ahead of us. We have rediscovered our love of winter and our great game. Most importantly, our love for our great club.

Well put, I concur with what you say.

My view is we are building a club and not a team, we have, for far too long, been a team with a lot of talent but haven't been a club since 1964.

I don't want to win a flag and fall away, I want us to be a contender for many years and be a club that any young kid wants to be part of.

Just saw the interview on 360 - the dribbling clown was exposed again by questioning Trent about his time up forward and how he got shifted to the back line. Deadpan Riv replied with a “nah, I’ve played every game down back”. Great stuff Trent. Shoddy work, again, Robbo. Despite us winning, 360 is getting virtually unwatchable because of this bloke who rants and raves each night.

Does he think Trent Rivers is Luke Jackson!? the bloke is smashed basically every 360 episode. any wonder he supports Essendon really.

I see Tom Green at GWS has done his hamstring and is out for 2-4 weeks.  Luke Jackson picked a nice time to kick 4 goals last week and gets a big chance to enhance his reputation in his home state this week.

Dogga for Rising Star!

Jackson looking the goods to take it this year, he's at nearly unbackable odds to win.

Regardless of who wins, we have FOUR Rising Star nominees this year which is a major coup for MFC. Amazing to see and our scouting, list management and player development team deserve huge credit for it.

i reckon the rising star should just be for players drafted in the previous year.. if they get injured/don't play enough games, so be it. its kinda weird that jackson will win it when he was drafted in '19..

i like the rules for eligibility coz theres usually players who dont debut in their first season, this year was always going to be slightly skewed as it was only a 17 game season so more players fell under the 10 game threshold, recent history also suggests that it usually is a 1st year player who wins it so it would be Jamarra/NGA type reactive to change it as soon as one player who is not a first yearer wins it.

i personally would be open to the idea of a "lifetime nomination" as in, once you're nominated you are eligible until you don't qualify so players who played <10 games last year and received noms last year don't need to be nominated again this year, therefore an extra what would if have been 4-5 players would have been nominated who didn't get to be recognised because of all the double ups... in a usual season this would only happen once or twice anyway so wouldn't really be a major shakeup

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
