44 can play, whoever he is.

I believe 44 is Luca Goonan - ex Mt Eliza player.  Was on Casey's list for last year but obviously didn't play.

Nephew of a family friend.

Haha I am not bald and there was no ill-intent in my comments, intended in affection only. Apologies if taken that way.

No reasonable thinking person would have taken offence TJ6

Jake Bowey can play footy - has very good balance, good side step and dare I say it you could argue is already the best kick on the list

Bailey Laurie seems a natural footballer - he has very good hands and awareness in traffic - I still have a slight question mark on speed but overall quite promising

Fraser Rosman I think has potential but may take a bit more time than others hoped

Not much depth.

Bowey impressive the rest just went. Brown terrible.

Confirmed that physios were looking at Nietschke's knee.

I hope that isn't serious - he has had such a terrible run and deserves to have some luck

This thread may be running hot like the Tigs B team, but the the Dees Z team performance is as about as cold as Ice Station Zebra.

Warming up ever so slightly. Nice pair Toby Bedford!

Bowey, Laurie and Petty were clearly the 3 best for me out everyone.

Harrison Petty has a strong case next week against the doggies as Tomlinson was poor today. On today's effort I'd have him round 1 against freo over Tomlinson

Would not hurt giving Bowey a run next week against the doggies. He seriously looked a class above everyone who just butchered the [censored] out of it.

I think Bowie has gone ahead of Lockhart for a spot as a small defender

Agreed on that performance can now see why Lockart was dropped last season way too many turnover balls or 50/50s at best.

The team looked poor, hopefully there are some VFL reinforcements coming in to top that side up, otherwise it could be a long year.

On a positive note, the young draftees looked good, Bowey and Laurie more than Rosman. And Petty played well, and will be required in the seniors sooner rather than later imo.

Very dysfunctional forward set up which is due to the fact that 4 of our first choice forwards are all out injured/on leave.

Richmond are a well drilled club/team.

Hope that Nieta is ok

Bowey, Petty, and Laurie all looked like AFL level to me. Bedford looked good in a couple of brief cameos when he turned the speed on, but like the rest of them, he didn't look at the level required for a promotion yet. hope Neitschke is ok, fingers crossed.

Early days, and the opposition was VFL level, but it's easy to see why we took Bowey and Laurie in the first round.  Both are 'natural' footballers and have the class we are crying out for.

Petty should be a 'lock' against the Dogs next weekend.

Beyond these three, not too much to get excited about from the B game.

Rosman showed glimpses of potential, but is not a 'natural', and will take time.

That's a shame. Sounds like he isn't the answer to fill in for BBB/Weid.

Brayshaw, Viney, B Brown, Weid, Melksham, Kossie, Hibberd, Lockhart, Hore and Joel Smith if he was not playing, add a bit of depth.

I think McDonald and Jackson will account for themselves quite well. It will be exciting to see Pickett, Chandler and Spargo in the 1 team.

The rest are injured or in Kossie's case unavailable.

AVB not out there also.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
