What is the score!!

7 points in front

Any news on what has happened to Chandler    is that him sitting on the bench in the blue top finished for the day ?

I think he just showed why he won't make it...

He's good out on his own but no idea in any kind of traffic.

Whole career based on 1 decision? My god

Can’t say that I’m a big fan of Tomlinson at FB.

Every team will try to isolate him deep and draw May away. We need the forward pressure to stop that happening. He’s awful one on one. As is Lever.

Mids got tired that quarter. And even more so half backs I think. Tigers work rate even when losing and in to the breeze is first class

If you watched his career to date and this game in particular.

He gets lost in traffic, just not good with contact.

That contest was typical not a one off...

...but you believe what you will.

Dominant in the first half of the quarter but then got pegged back similar to what Richmond done to us in the second quarter. Lever, Gawn and Petracca outstanding. Chandler was outstanding too until he unfortunately got injured.

Marking contests are hard but that wasn’t even it, was a ball bouncing around that he just had to kill.

He’s Toumpas with pace to get out of traffic at times.

2nd term;

1) We saw the good and bad of Hunt. His opponent Castagna got off leash and is probably Tigers best. But Jayden provided run and dash and his one-two with Jordan and then long kick to T.Mac saw him take us from deep defence to forward line in an instant - Tiger defenders had no chance of switching to stop it. T.Mac missed shot - unusual for him.

2) Trac (our best quarter one) had shocking quarter with terrible disposal, Chandler and Jones running into space as small forwards impressive.

3) Gawn resting forward when Jacko goes on ball is huge and a point of difference that is exploiting Tiger defence.

3rd term.

1) Gawn's goal from outside 50m and general play excellent. Easily BOG at this stage but will be required big time to stave off Tigers who have wind this quarter.

2) Highlights: Rivers took one kick-in and dummied, had bounce and with wind sent it the edge of our forward 50m. Oliver's goal from ball-up where he had give-go with Trac and then wobbled it home. Lowlight: Chandler off with what looked a serious wrist injury.

3) Super team goal with Spargo handball over head, ANB deliberate handball under players leg leading to Chandler goal.

Tough quarter coming up against the wind.

Some excellent ruck work that quarter, Gawn and Jackson.

Good slings off the half back from Rivers.

I sometimes wonder about us sometimes, we get a run on, we look great, young chandler just slams home his second and I think this kid looks alright, we look alright,  then the next minute the same kid is running to the interchange holding his arm and we let Richmond boot the next 2 or 3 and im left shaking me head again

We've got to work on holding the ball in our forward line. Leaks like a sieve.

Need to work on our tackling to prevent the opposition getting the ball out cleanly so often.

Sure you were chirpy when he was jaggin goals from the boundary against the giants, but I wouldn’t want to base my opinions on him off one play ?

Chandler is doing alright.

Went off injured arm. Has had 3 arm breaks. Hope he is ok.

Back on looks ok and kicks his 3rd. Kid having a good game.

The long bomb kick outs need a plan for what happens next. Be it keep going forward, move it wide to one side or keep numbers in tight. It looks great until it goes back the other way just as fast.

Id like to see the tall under the high ball just punch it to one side

Chandler is out there    so not hurt

Chandler seems ok for someone who's just slammed through his third.

Kade Chandler holy smokes!!

Out of interest... did anybody else feel Steven May probably should have gotten a free for head contact during that marking contest?

Commentators are too busy to look at the gameplay.

Just kicked another goal

Chandler ok.  Bang, a goal. RIPPA!

Chandler back on and just kicked a corker of a goal near the boundary.

He’s been the big story of the day IMO.

74-61 but Richmond lining up for a goal.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
